SAIC is supporting the U.S Air Force with the demanding challenges of the Technology, Application, Development, and Sustainment program (TADS). This program is modernizing the DoD’s premier weather data center, which provides environmental intelligence throughout the globe. It will be up to us to develop and sustain the systems key to the Air Force’s global weather analysis and forecasting mission. The five-year TADS contract has an additional six-month extension, with a ceiling value of $630m if all options are exercised.

The activities enabled by these systems include, but are not limited to, the following environmental intelligence support areas:

• The collection and distribution of surface and upper air weather observations on a recurring basis
• The assimilation of weather observations into highly complex worldwide and regional weather forecasting models
• Running of global and regional weather models many times each day for global weather forecasting with lead times from hours to days (up to 14 days)
• Leveraging available weather observations and model data to generate applied weather products (e.g., global cloud and aerosol forecasts)
• Development and operation of specialized environmental intelligence models including cloud models, land surface models, hydrology models, and snow models
• Application of weather models and data for Air Force and Army mission planning and execution, to include special operations support

SAIC is hiring a number of staff members to provide the needed science and technical expertise. Adoption of modern DevSecOps practices is a top-priority, and we are looking for self-starters who seize the initiative and are willing to lean-forward and help integrate new solutions into this complex enterprise.
