SAIC is looking for an Engineering Technician III in Bedford, IN.

 The Engineering Technician III performs assignments that are not completely standardized or prescribed, selects or adapts standard procedures or equipment, using fully applicable precedents, receives initial instructions, equipment requirements, and advice from supervisor or engineer as needed, performs recurring work independently. Work is reviewed for technical adequacy or conformity with instructions. This technician performs at this level one or a combination of such typical duties as: 

  • Constructing components, sub-units, or simple models or adapts standard equipment; may troubleshoot and correct malfunctions;
  • Following specific layout and scientific diagrams to construct and package simple devices and sub-units of equipment.
  • Conducting various tests or experiments which may require minor modifications in test setups or procedures as well as subjective judgments in measurement, selecting, preparing, and operating standard test equipment and records test data;
  • Extracting and compiling a variety of engineering data from field notes, manuals, lab reports, etc., processing data, identifying errors or inconsistencies, selecting methods of data presentation.
  • Assisting in design modification by compiling data related to design, specifications, and materials that are pertinent to specific items of equipment or component parts; developing information concerning previous operational failures and modifications, and using judgment and initiative to recognize inconsistencies or gaps in data and seek sources to clarify information.  

Field service Rep responsibilities include meeting all required travel requirements CONUS and OCONUS, maintain a secret clearance, perform logistics tasking such as material movement, shipping and receiving, inventory of system sparing, reporting system status, and document all repairs. Maintenance and repairs performed daily and reported, 7-10 hour days while deployed OCONUS.

 Other Job Responsibilities:

  • Support fielding, sustainment and training on Ground Surveillance Systems in locations around the world.
  • Apply Software and Network Configurations to perform Component Integration
  • Troubleshoot and repair Hardware components using Multimeters, Load Banks and other Power Testing Tools
  • Capture and Compile Failure Data to be used for Reliability Analysis
  • Troubleshoot Operating Systems using Command Line tools, schematics, and flow charts
  • Utilize Programming Scripts to perform autonomous Testing
  • Communicate Hardware Failures with Senior Test and Hardware Engineers
  • Maintain Component Logs and Work Packages to capture historical Component Data
  • Provide weekly task reports
  • Provide logistics and material movement support
  • Integration and sustainment support
  • Passport

Qualifications

 Education:

  • High School diploma w/technical certificate in Automotive, Electronics, HVAC, Computer IT
  • Military training

Required Skills:

  • Working Knowledge of Power Test Tools such as Multimeters, Load Banks and Oscilloscopes
  • Computer Network understanding and principles
  • Strong Oral and Written communications skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and Project

 Desired Skills:

  • Must be able to obtain Secret Clearance
  • Experience with Electro Optical Sensor Systems
  • Software Command Line Interface skills to include an understanding of Linux and Windows Operating Systems
  • Cybersecurity WorkForce (CSWF) Security+
