SAIC is seeking an experienced Configuration Management Specialist to work at our office in El Segundo, CA.  The MILSATCOM Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test (MSEIT) effort provides leading edge Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I) for the Space Systems Command (SSC) communication program offices. We support the Space Force’s acquisition of state of the art Military Satellite Communications systems, providing global secure, survivable, and protected communications for our nation’s warfighters. We seek technical individuals who will thrive in a highly collaborative work environment of small teams, using the most modern tools and methodologies to tackle the challenges of integrating complex space and ground communications systems.

The successful candidate should have experience in the Configuration Management (CM) field, and will apply CM processes for document control of technical requirements, statements of work (SOW), and associated Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and system specifications. CM candidate will control and manage technical data from different sources, and organize program documentation.

The successful candidate will have some of the experience listed in the responsibilities below:

 

  • Participate in weekly Change Control Boards and assist with board package coordination
  • Support Directorate level changes (assign number, log and track)
  • Maintain status accounting information related to Board packages and tracking packages through enterprise and program level boards
  • Maintain Technical baseline in two databases - TopVue and Livelink
  • Support working group configuration control
  • Support SOW and CDRL documentation generation
  • Plan and coordinate preparation of project documentation, such as Request-For-Change (RFC), production specifications and schedules, and contract modifications
  • Analyze proposed changes to the Technical Baseline to determine effect on overall product and system
  • Establish change request and prepare for change authorization and documentation
  • Review and analyze released engineering change data and coordinate changes with engineering

Qualifications - External

  • Bachelor's Degree

2+ years of configuration management experience

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a DoD SECRET Security Clearance are required for the position
  •  

Preferred Skills:

  • Thorough knowledge of hardware and software development life cycles and CDRL development process
  • Experience directly supporting DoD personnel on space programs
  • Configuration Data Management Certification, such as Certified International Configuration Manager (CICM)
  •  
  • Experience with recommending and implementing military standards and CM best practices
  • Experience with SATCOM systems, preferably MILSATCOM
  • Knowledge on EIA-649-1, MIL-STD-973 and MIL-HDBK-61
  • Knowledge on DoD-5010-12-M and DoD-5015-2-STD

 

 

 

 
Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the development and flow down of requirements for a large space based processed communications system
  • Work with configuration management and technical SMEs/bookbosses in developing and tracking Change Proposals
  • Assist and review models and analysis in support of development and flow down of requirements
  • Assess proposed baseline changes for impacts to requirements and verification. Supporting the customer with verification tracking to ensure the developer and source requirements are adequately verified
  • Ensure effective requirements integration across space and ground, hardware and software, and all other aspects of systems and organizations within the Enterprise
  • Interact with the prime contractor and government leads to ensure that all system requirements and interfaces are consistent and valid across the Enterprise

Qualifications

Qualifications - External
  • Bachelor's Degree and 2+ years of configuration management experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a DoD SECRET Security Clearance are required for the position
