SAIC is seeking a qualified technician for Modeling and Simulation (M&S) support for the US Air Force Agency for Modeling and Simulation (AFAMS) program in Kaiserslautern, Germany.

AFAMS is the premier agency responsible for implementation, integration, and development of Modeling and Simulation (M&S) and training and analysis standards that support the US Air Force (USAF), Department of Defense (DoD), and mission partners requiring these capabilities to support the Warfighter in full-spectrum operations. As the lead agent for M&S within the USAF, AFAMS gathers requirements, seeks out potential solutions, and integrates legacy and emerging M&S solutions across the USAF and the DoD. The USAF has an M&S initiative that focuses on providing simulation and synthetic training as the critical capability to augment live training, act as an enabler for critical decision-making, and enhance human performance. In the current resource constrained environment, demand for M&S rises with the continuously evolving need for operational readiness and mission preparedness across the USAF, DoD, and with coalition partners. AFAMS focuses on providing innovative M&S services as the key to meeting this demand.

The role of this position is to support the USAFE-AFAFRICA Warfare Center (UAWC) at Einsiedlerhof AS, Germany. The M&S support technician will:

  • Provide technical expertise in performing system and subsystem definition, preliminary and detailed design, design implementation, and subsystem and system integration and tests for the Air, Space, and Cyberspace Constructive Environment – Information Operations Suite (ACE-IOS) supporting U.S. Air Force and Joint training exercises.
  • Review test plans and define/develop test benches for software libraries.
  • Identify and implement creative solutions to improve system and product development.
  • Work with unit leaders and other technical experts to assist in the development of exercise scenarios and other ACE-IOS simulation data requirements needed and operate the various modules during the execution of testing and training events.
  • Serve as the central Point of Contact (POC) for all matters related to the development, operation, training, and support of ACE-IOS for all exercise and test events supported by the UAWC site including, but not limited to: Air Warfare Simulation (AWSIM) / ACE IOS Controller / instructor Blue Air Response Cell (BARC).

Qualifications

TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors and nine (9) years or more experience; Masters and seven (7) years or more experience ; PhD or JD and four (4) years or more experience or 13 years of experience in lieu of degree 

  • Security + certification.
  • 10+ years of M&S and/or technical work experience.  (Senior Level Position)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and five years specialized experience; OR minimum of 11 years of recent specialized experience.
  • Experience with the following C2 systems: Theater Battle Management Core Systems (TBMCS) and Air Defense System Integrator (ADSI).
  • Experience as AWSIM / ACE IOS Controller Blue Air Response Cell instructing/supervising BARC controllers. Experience working in both a Joint Live Virtual Confederation (JLVC) and Joint Land Component Constructive Training Capability (JLCTTC) environment.
  • Possess expert-level knowledge in at least one of the following systems, and familiar with all of the following systems: ACE-IOS, AWSIM, ABS, CSI.
  • Experience in instructing and controlling the Air Force Modeling and Simulation Training Toolkit (AFMSTT).
  • Highly proficient in and shall possess the necessary certifications and credentials needed to effectively operate the M&S federations, models, systems, and their associated components.
  • Experience in Lynx system administration and system operation.
  • Waiver of individual experience/qualification requirements will be addressed by UAWC on a case- by-case basis and approved by the FEDSIM COR or CO

Must be US CItizen

Must have active Secret Clearance

Desired Experience/Qualifications:

  • Experience using networking tools such as Wireshark and Net link.
  • Experience with modeling and simulation (M&S) federation tools such as Joint Simulation Protocol Analyzer (JSPA), DIS-Filter, JLVC Analysis Workstation (JAWS), and Perspective.
  • Experience with VMWare and the creation and use of virtual machines.
  • Experience with Oracle database management and Structured Query Language (SQL) queries.
  • Experience with the following C2 systems: Tactical Data and Connectivity System (TDACS), Sirus, Global Command and Control System (GCCS), and Joint Range Extender (JRE).
  • Experience working with a JLVC tree router and Real Time Infrastructure (RTI).
  • C2C4I ADSI/GCCS/TBMCS/System admin certification.
  • Strong understanding of Information Assurance (IA) processes and techniques, with experience in remediating scan findings applicable to STIG compliance.
  • Understanding of TCP/User Datagram Protocol (UDP) network communication.
  • Understanding of Unicast and Multicast networking.
  • Experience in BARC Planning and instruction and controller supervision.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, and Teams.
