Job Description


SAIC is seeking a seasoned Cyber Engineer on the Horizon contract in El Segundo, California.  Horizon is a Space Program that provides direct and integrated support to the United States Space Forces (USSF) Space Systems Command (SSC) mission in pioneering, developing and delivering sustainable joint space warfighting capabilities to defend the nation and its allies and disrupt adversaries in the contested space domain. 
Duties Include:
  • Implements secure operating systems, networks, security monitoring, tuning and management of IT security systems and applications, incident response, loss prevention, and eDiscovery actions
  • Conducts risk and vulnerability assessment at the network, system and application level
  • Develops and implements security controls and formulates operational risk mitigations along with assisting in security awareness programs
  • Involved in a wide range of security issues including architectures, firewalls, electronic data traffic, and network access
  • Researches, evaluates and recommends new security tools, techniques, and technologies and introduces them to the enterprise in alignment with IT security strategy
  • Performs analyses to validate established security requirements and to recommend additional security requirements and safeguards

  • Provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors
  • Represents organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects




  • Bachelors and five (5) years or more experience; Masters and three (3) years or more experience; PhD and 0 years related experience
  • Must have an active TS Clearance with in-scope SSBI/T5 investigation and the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI for Special Programs.  Must be willing to consent to a Poly. US Citizenship required
  • Understanding of DOD Risk Management Framework Assessment & Authorization (RMF A&A), FedRAMP, the DOD cloud provisional authorization (PA) process, and the processes to successfully acquire and maintain an Authorization to Operate (ATO)
  • Working knowledge of the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Process (FedRAMP), cloud security information impact levels (IL) to TS/SCI Special Access Programs, the differences between an ATO and P-ATO, the differences between a CSO and CSP, and the processes to successfully acquire, maintain, and support DOD cloud accreditation
  • Understanding of network, storage, server, and application technologies
  • Strong understanding of common cyber threat patterns, indicators of compromise, and defenses
  • Working knowledge of DoD STIGs, SRGs, and IA Vulnerability Management (IAVM), and security best practices
  • Knowledge of securing cloud environments
Preferred qualifications:
  • Hands-on experience in implementing security controls
  • Experience with implementing DevSecOps
