SAIC is seeking a Systems Engineer with Digital Engineering and/or Modeling & Simulation experience in Defense Weapon Systems to join our top-tier team supporting an array of mission-critical initiatives to advance DoD Digital Engineering.  This position is located in Alexandria, VA.

SAIC supports the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (OUSD(R&E)) customers as they lead, cultivate, and develop innovative solutions to address common concerns of shifting to Digital Engineering (DE), and increase the understanding of models, simulations, processes, and tools across the enterprise.

SAIC also provides technical expertise to improve the state-of-practice to pursue cross-cutting issues across within the acquisition community and the systems engineering enterprise. As a mid-level member of the team, you will assist OUSD(R&E) in the development, application, and stewardship of models across multiple disciplines of acquisition.

Job duties include:

• Identify and propose improvements in the use of models as a trusted, reliable, and cohesive element within Digital Engineering and Modeling & Simulation
• Provide technical expertise which supports the use of models and simulations across the enterprise and modernization areas
• Conduct analysis to support the evolution of model/simulation for expanded use in digital engineering applications
• Collaborate with various engineering teams to support requirements definition, integration, and deployment of newly developed capabilities
• Provide technical leadership to R&E on modernization efforts; advise on modeling & simulation for the National Defense Strategy, and champion reuse, interoperability and modeling of environments and artifacts
• Prepare presentations and other materials to support project functions
• Draft correspondence, reports, white papers, spreadsheets, communications products, briefs, and other documentation

Qualifications

Experience & Education

• Minimum of a bachelor’s of science degree in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline which includes theory or practice of model usage.
• Experience in development, application, or stewardship of models across multiple disciplines of acquisition, analysis or training.
• Experience in evolution of enablers (such as validation principles).
• Strong analytical skills with background and demonstrated understanding of model-based systems engineering implementation
• Able to conduct briefings, participate in technical cross-functional meetings, and interface with senior government customers, SMEs, and industry.
• Must be able to work both independently and with a team to execute work tasks in a rapidly changing, fast-paced environment
• Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills

Required Clearance

• Active Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI

Desired Qualifications

• Experience creating or updating DoD policy, guidance or training to achieve goals in the National Defense Strategy related to improving engineering practice
• Experience with digital engineering, digital transformation, data-centric operations, or advanced or emerging technology areas (such as autonomy, cloud computing or artificial intelligence)
