Job Description


SAIC is seeking a Sr. Technical Writer/Editor to support our NAVWAR customer in San Diego, CA

  • Performs desktop publishing for IETM development in support of a NAVWAR PMW 770 acquisition program.
  • Writes, rewrites and/or edits technical documents such as operations and maintenance manuals, system administrator guides, operational specifications, and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions.
  • Acquires subject knowledge by interviewing product/software developers, referring to technical specifications, engineering drawings, and DoD Instructions.
  • Prepares materials in accordance with MIL-SPECs and standards.
  • Conducts quality review and validation of materials.
  • Supports Test and evaluation events for program milestones.


Education & Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in English, Journalism or Technical Writing.
  • Ten (10) years of experience in the technical data management of combat system acquisition and/or life-cycle programs, to include: writing/editing technical documentation, procedures and guidelines for C4ISR systems or equipment.
  • Experience with MS Word, Visio, and Power Point: templates, section/paragraph auto-numbering, headers, footers, captions, complex tables, auto-indexing, fault logic and network diagrams, business charts, and graphs.
  • Experience with Adobe Acrobat: pdf conversion, linking/bookmarking, fill-in forms, digital signatures, and certificates.
  • Intermediate graphics development capability.


  • Ability to obtain and maintain SECRET clearance.


  • Intermediate experience using Arbortext for desktop publishing of IETMs (XML, HTML) using Document Type Definitions (DTDs) and style sheets. 
  • Background in logistics, spare parts, or supply.
  • Configuration management and document control process experience.
