Description

SAIC is seeking a Certified Welding Inspector to inspect and evaluate welds in order to ensure compliance with AWS codes and MIL-STDs. Position inspects finished welding product and dimensions, documents and records all inspections for QC purposes, and conducts in process and final inspections on military vehicles.

This work is contingent based on contract award which is expected in August 2022.

Responsibilities:

• Monitors and inspects all work performed by Welders and Fitters.
• Perform non-destructive (MT) testing visual inspections and required tests on welded pieces
• Implement and improve quality control operating procedures, WPS, etc.
• Conducts welder training and welder certification testing
• Records and maintains welder certification testing
• Participate in routine dimensional and visual inspections
• Familiar with engineering drawings
• Inspect, test, or measure materials, products, installations, or work for conformance to specifications.
• Prepare comprehensive inspection reports
• Monitor NCR items and repairs/corrective works

Qualifications

***This position REQUIRES U.S. citizenship and, at minimum, an active DoD secret-level clearance. All candidates without an active clearance will be immediately disqualified.*** 

Education/Experience Requirements:

• High School Diploma and ten (10) years of welding experience
• American Welding Society (AWS) AQC7 certification
• Must be proficient in the Flux-Cord Arc Welding (FCAW) and Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) processes
• Certified Welding Inspectors (CWIs) shall be certified in accordance with one or more of the following:
  • 1) Certified in accordance with AWS, CWI, qualified and certified in accordance with provisions of AWS QC1, Standard for AWS Certified Welding Inspector.
  • 2) Welding inspectors qualified by the CWB to Level II or the Level III requirements of the Canadian Standards Association Standard W178.2 Certification of Welding Inspectors.
  • 3) AWS Certified Associate Welding Inspector under the supervision of a CWI or a CWB Level III; or A welding inspector certification program that is substantially the same as offered by AWS or CWB. In this case, the inspector certification program must be reviewed and approved by a government CWI or equivalent Quality Assurance representative prior to approval.

• Fluent in the English language 
• Ability to travel up to 20% as required
