Job Description


Serve as a business process analyst on a software development team that designs, develops and maintains complex web-based applications in support of the U.S Department of Agriculture’s Farm Service Agency. Elicit, analyze and document complex software system requirements in a large scale enterprise.
Primary Job Duties
  • Conduct analysis of business processes using techniques such as BPM, use case modeling, current state analysis, gap analysis, benchmarking, best practices identification, etc.
  • Interface with all areas of project including customer, architects, development team, operations, and other teams.
  • Provide expertise and guidance in interpreting policies, regulations, and guidelines to assure compliance.
  • Conduct client interviews and coordinate with business and technology teams to ascertain and document system requirements such as program functions, output requirements, input data acquisition, and system controls.
  • Perform cost benefit analysis.



  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or relevant discipline and 5 years' experience; experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Experience with formal system development methodologies including Agile
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Experience with business process modeling
  • Experience eliciting and documenting software requirements in the form of use cases and user stories
  • Experience in business analysis activities including:
    • Software requirements management and analysis
    • Software requirements elicitation
    • Software solutions analysis
    • Software requirements planning
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance


Target salary range: $85,001 - $95,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
