Description
SAIC is rapidly growing a System Integration team to deliver a new, complex space and ground system in support of National Security. This exciting and innovative program, located in Chantilly VA, is leveraging best practices in system engineering, via Digital Engineering processes and technology, and in Agile software development, via DevSecOps development. This multi-year contract will require energetic engineers to define and integrate major space systems and associated ground elements from concept into an operational enterprise.
SAIC is seeking a mid-career/senior program planner to support critical new national security space integration program within SAIC’s National Security and Space line of business. This is an ideal opportunity for a seasoned professional in Project Controls and/or Program Planning to lead program planning efforts. The successful candidate will work both independently and in a team based environment to develop, coordinate and manage schedules that include a listing of a project’s milestones, activities, and deliverables. For this role, you will need to be someone who leads by example and has the uncanny ability to influence and foster collaboration and teamwork that generates impactful results.
Responsibilities include:
- Interact with various project teams and providers to develop and maintain detailed, integrated schedule for successful program execution
- Evaluate project(s) schedule progress and performance and identify and communicate issues and variance
- Coordinate/interface with other organizations to flow/roll-up the schedule into higher-level and or integrated schedule(s)
- Assist program leadership in driving and holding organizations accountable to schedule and contractual commitments
- Attend meetings and assist with determination of project and program requirements - Report status of schedule management as and when required
- Track the progress of work being performed by program / project - Maintain a database of giver/receiver dependencies within Microsoft Project Server
- Brief senior level management, program managers and teammates
- Apprise management and all program stakeholders of schedule risk and progress issues early enough to be addressed
Qualifications
TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors and five (5) years or more experience; Masters and three (3) years or more experience ; PhD or JD and zero (0) years or more experience.
Clearance Requirements:
- Current TS clearance with ability and willingness to upgrade
Experience, and Qualifications:
- 5+ years of professional experience in an operational planning or scheduling type of capacity
- Expert knowledge of planning and analysis tools (Microsoft Project or Microsoft Project Server)
- Experience with Critical Path Analysis including float and margin, and/or Schedule Risk Assessments (SRAs)
- Possess proven capability to understand minute schedule details and summarize into valuable information for directors and VPs.
- Seasoned in earned value management systems and processes
- Experience with detailed analysis of developers’ schedules
- Proven ability to work effectively both independently and in a team based environment
- Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
- Ability to think-on-your-feet, adapt as situations change and make the best possible decisions with the information at hand
- Strong influencing and relationship skills
- Ability to liaise with, speak and present effectively to personnel at all levels of the organization
- Strong communication and relationship management skills
Desired Experience, and Qualifications:
- Experience with development programs
- Development and support of satellite development program schedules
- Complete understanding and proven application of planning principles, theories, concepts along with strong knowledge of related disciplines
