JOB DESCRIPTION: 

SAIC is seeking a Junior SQL Database Administrator to work with our California, Maryland team.

 

This is a Hybrid position with partial work from home option however candidate must reside in the California, Maryland area.

Candidate will develop and maintain various forms of potentially complex applications and relational database models. These will be comprised of various languages, protocols, and interfaces for the purpose of customer data management and dissemination.  The candidate will perform technical tasks using both standard and non-standard analysis, design, programming methods and relational database management techniques. The candidate will be required to apply analytical and evaluative techniques to design and implement solutions in support of the customer database management system.  
 
Requirements:

• Required to perform Database System monitoring
• Perform Database backup/recovery - Optimizing stored procedures, and indexing
• Monitor performance and tune, diagnose and repair data systems
• Guide the setup of database clusters, backup or recovery processes and cloud database implementation
• Work with development staff to ensure that database deployments, access and security compliance measures are consistently met and with government guidelines and requirements
• Status reporting to information technology management and any assigned project teams when required
• Participate in regular customer meetings to report project status, progress, and risks/issues as applicable.
• Will work with system administrators, program managers, information security officers, and other teams to create or update system policies and documentation  
• Foster an innovative and inclusive team-oriented work environment
• Candidate must translate business guidance into technical solutions
• Design and implement features in collaboration with team engineers, product owners, data analysts, and business partners using Agile / Scrum methodology. 
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work well in a team environment and lead other DBS's

Qualifications

TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

• Bachelor's degree, and 2+ years of experience; four (4) years experience accepted in lieu of degree. A focus or major in computer science, systems engineering, or related technical discipline is preferred. 
• Interim clearance required

Preferred:

• Experience as a SQL Server DBA or similar is preferred. Will consider hands on training or experience with SQL or similar databases.  
• 2 years’ progressive experience as a Database Administrator
  Knowledge of MS SQL 2003, 2005, 2008R2, 2012 MS SQL 2016 and 2019.
• Experience with SQL Server Integration Services development, import, and export tools a plus.
• Experience with SQL Server Integration§ 
• A proven track record and expertise in database management techniques
• Excellent customer service, communication and organizational skills are required
• Capable of working under pressure, handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
  Experience providing services to the federal government is preferred

 

 

Target salary range: $75,001 - $100,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.

Covid Policy: SAIC does not require COVID-19 vaccinations or boosters. Customer site vaccination requirements must be followed when work is performed at a customer site.
