SAIC has a contingent job opportunity for a Technical Writer III at NAS Pax River, Patuxent River, MD. The Technical Writer will support the U.S. Navy’s Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division Programs (NAWCAD). This program supports the Mission Engineering and Analysis Department (MEAD).

Work will be performed on-site in Patuxent River, MD.  Some flex/remote work within the local area will be considered.

This position is contingent upon contract award, expected in Fall 2022/Early 2023.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Experience in update and maintain NATOPS and NATIP flight manuals in XML format
• Meet with government customers during reviews and working groups capturing changes/updates.
• Audit materials for specification adherence and perform checks for anomalies and deviations
• Reviewing format and layout of documentation to ensure accuracy of draft and final products for varied government deliverables
• Migration of data from varied sources as provided into XML
• Provide input, during meetings, related to the development of Electronic Flight Clearance (eFC policies), procedures and execution of tasking related to workflow and other systems integration of data.
• Provide solutions and updates to meet requirements of the government contracts and varied program stakeholders.
• Travel for various working group and reviews may be required.
• Reviews written materials and recommends revisions or changes in scope, format, and content.
• Develop, prepare and manage material that contains data required for the operator to safely and effectively employ the aircraft and its weapon systems, facilitating publication updates for new equipment authorized on aircraft as well as updating and maintaining published information for existing equipment and stores in accordance with defined processes.
• Provide expertise in various technical publication specifications as NATIP and NATOPS products evolve.
• Develop training materials and Users Guides, and provide training via lectures and/or simulator flight training in support of designated Navy instructor representatives.

 

Qualifications

Required Experience and Education:

• High School diploma or GED with a minimum of 6 (six) years of experience relative to the job description.
• Minimum of three (3) years of demonstrated experience in S-1000-D formatting and ArborText  software.
• Minimum of three (3) years of demonstrated experience directly related to military aircraft technical data products and manuals.

Clearance:

• Active Top Secret clearance required

Target salary range: $50,001 - $75,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.

Covid Policy: SAIC does not require COVID-19 vaccinations or boosters. Customer site vaccination requirements must be followed when work is performed at a customer site.
