Job Description

Description

SAIC is hiring a Junior Model Based Systems Engineer to support the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR).  NAVAIR has undertaken an organization-wide initiative to implement a Systems Engineering Transformation (SET), which will reengineer the entire systems acquisition process.  The goal is to incorporate the latest approaches in Digital Engineering and Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), and requires sets of related models that describe and analyze the desired systems.  The initiative requires team members, with a variety of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) skills, who can develop creative solutions to complex systems engineering challenges.  Note:  Must be able to be onsite in Patuxent River, MD as needed to support meetings.

The selected candidate will be responsible for:
  • Supporting specific program focus areas and project modeling activities by developing and maintaining SysML models in Cameo Systems Modeler as directed by program and SET subject matter experts
  • Reviewing existing models and documentation to determine compliance with best practices in Systems Engineering and MBSE
  • Collection and verification of information to be included in modeling efforts, including coordination with both internal and external program stakeholders
  • Engaging with program and project leadership to support communication of modeling status and potential usage
  • Maintaining and improving proficiency and expertise in the most current MBSE concepts, tools, techniques, and practices
  • Working with program and SET MBSE subject matter experts to develop tools, presentations, and processes to support the implementation and integration of models across programs throughout NAVAIR
  • Support program MBSE implementation efforts by providing MBSE related information and training to other program team members as needed

Qualifications

  • BS or BA from an accredited college or university in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related scientific discipline
  • US citizen with the ability to obtain an Interim DoD Secret Clearance
  • Familiarity with developing SysML models at the project and system level
  • Familiarity with Cameo Systems Modeler, Cameo Enterprise Architect, Magic Draw, or similar SysML based modeling software
