Description
The Ocean Biology Processing Group (http://oceancolor.gsfc.nasa.gov) at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center is a world leader in satellite-based remote sensing of the ocean. This position will support the OBPG in the development, maintenance and operation of the Ocean Data Processing System (ODPS) that performs acquisition, processing, archiving and distribution of scientific satellite remote sensing data. Duties include: development and maintenance of software and database objects to support ODPS satellite data operations; monitoring ODPS operations and troubleshooting problems. This role is in Greenbelt, MD.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors and three (3) years or more experience; Masters and 0 years related experience, 4+ years of related experience in lieu of a bachelor's degree
Required Skills:
- 1-3 years of relevant experience performing software-systems administration and development in a UNIX/Linux environment.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in programming and scripting using Unix/Linux shell, C, SQL, Java and/or Perl in a UNIX/Linux environment.
- The successful candidate must also be eligible for unescorted access to NASA facilities.
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physical Science, or Mathematics (post graduate education will be considered for professional experience).
Desired Skills:
- Experience with scientific data processing systems; experience with relational databases; experience in software configuration management; experience with cloud technologies, e.g. Amazon Web Services.
