SAIC has a funded need for a Space Systems Engineer to provide systems engineering and technical advisory services (SETA) to a rapidly expanding Government Intelligence Community (IC) customer within the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) in Chantilly, VA.

This customer is responsible for designing, building, and operating national security-related systems based in space, in the air, and on the ground.

Job Duties:

  • Supports a System Program Office (SPO) in a technical capacity for planning, execution, monitoring, and oversight of satellite system development and acquisitions that advance the National Reconnaissance Office’s (NRO) space resiliency posture.
  • Serve on a team of on-site SETAs working advanced technologies to enhance resiliency and survivability of space systems with responsibilities
  • Provide technical support government on acquisition, source selection, and programmatic processes, including developing acquisition support documents, conducting technical evaluation and verification
  • Support Contract Officer/Contract Officer Technical Representatives (CO/COTRs) and Developers by coordinating with other technical domain Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and program stakeholders to achieve a detailed understanding of the systems, designs, and interfaces necessary to satisfy requirements and to advise on issues related to feasibility and applicability of new technologies for future satellite architecture, spacecraft concepts, and capabilities
  • Participating in technical interchange meetings between developers and COTR and provide technical review and assessment of space-capable technologies and theoretical concepts
  • Develop presentations, written reports, related documents, and briefings to government and industry as required that communicate project goal, status, results and recommendations

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or Physics and 9 years or more relevant experience; or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or Physics and 7 years or more relevant experience.
  • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance with Poly
  • Experience in space payload research and development.
  • Experience in space systems design, specification, development, manufacturing, and testing.
  • Effective communication, coordination, and customer engagement skills.
  • Prior NRO support experience
  • Strong written and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic, and team environment.
  • Current NRO-adjudicated clearance and polygraph a PLUS
