Job Description



SAIC has a contingent opening for a Advanced Manufacturing Engineer to support repair activities supporting the US Navy SEA05T in Chesapeake, Virginia. As a member of the Cold Spray team, the successful applicant will apply analytic engineering skills to identify and manage components and systems that can be repaired using Cold Spray technology.


Typical Duties:

  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team to develop component and material databases for shipboard systems that can be repaired utilizing Cold Spray technology
  • Evaluate components for cold spray repair feasibility, including any additional post-processing steps
  • Apply experience from the U.S. Navy maintenance planning processes to contribute to Cold Spray project planning activities, estimation, and schedule development
  • Integrate repaired components into shipboard systems.  Support tracking of Cold Spray-repaired components to ensure durability and expected performance.
  • Support acceptance testing of Cold Spray components and systems per customer requirements
  • Generate and review documentation for a Technical Data Package associated with the design, development, spray profiles, and integration of cold sprayed components
  • Assess technical and integration risk and help identify mitigations
  • Review test plans and procedures, including Universal Process Instructions (UPI)
  • Review relevant milestone contract deliverables and provide recommendations across the life cycle of repaired components


Required Education: 

  • Engineering Bachelor’s degree (Mechanical or Systems preferred) and 8 years or more experience; four (4) plus additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree


 Required Skills:

  • Experience repairing and maintaining shipboard systems/components
  • Understanding materials properties and compatibilities
  • Understanding traditional and advanced manufacturing processes, including turning, milling, and CNC machines
  • Prefer experience developing manufacturing/repairing components for shipboard use
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficient using MS Windows, MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Visio)


Required Clearance:

  • Must possess a minimum of INTERIM SECRET with ability to attain SECRET clearance

Target salary range: $100,001 - $125,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
