SAIC is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to support the rapid prototyping efforts for autonomous system development projects at Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Pacific in San Diego, CA. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in interpreting mechanical drawings and translating them into fabricated components.

Work will be performed onsite in San Diego, CA.

This opportunity is contingent upon contract award- anticipated in the Spring/Summer of 2022.

Job duties may include:

• Operating and programming Computer Numerical Control (CNC) equipment to fabricate finished components based off fabrication drawings.
• Operating machine shop equipment, including but not limited to mills, lathes, drill presses, and waterjets to fabricate components based off fabrication drawings.
• Inspection of finished components to verify adherence to fabrication specs.
• Providing input and suggestions to design engineers regarding component machinability
• Interacting with a variety of customers to identify needs, establish priorities, and communicate status

Qualifications

Candidate Requirements:

• At least a High School diploma or equivalent
• At least five (5) years of experience operating and maintaining machine shop equipment
• At least five (5) years of experience operating, programming, and setting up CNC equipment
• At least five (5) years of experience reading engineering drawings and interpreting Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) callouts
• Five (5) years of experience using Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) software (i.e. Fusion 360)
• Ability to effectively communicate project status and feedback to engineers and project managers
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Word and Excel
• US Citizenship Required
