Overview
We are seeking a motivated, career and customer oriented Principal Data Architect interested in joining our team in Alexandria, VA to help an important customer providing Data Architecture and Data Management support..

 

Responsibilities:

Services provided for this role include Data standardization, enterprise data architecture, requirement analysis, data analysis, data modeling and database design creation and review, data integration; along with support to maintain the data modeling tool and its repository. Support areas under these services include:

  • Providing advice and coaching service to development teams on data architecture and database  design
  • Conducting research and report new database technologies and provide proof of concept for any proposed new technology.
  • Data standardization, as a means to manage the agency-wide data administration policies, standards, and procedures for strategic data management and to increase the understanding and reuse of data.
  • Identification of authoritative sources of data
  • Data integrity, accuracy, and timeliness
  • Normalized data structures
  • System interface diagrams that include documentation of interfaces, frequencies, payload, and associated data sources and business rules.
  • Artifacts that support systems as well as the overall enterprise data architecture, in  alignment with the Federal Enterprise Architecture
  • Provide expertise in application architecture to enable improvement of the methods, practices, and technologies that influence the architecture and design of applications and their impact on Data Architecture Patterns and Practices.
  • Other data architecture support as required to ensure seamless day-to-day operations

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

Bachelors and nine (9) years or more experience; Masters and seven (7) years or more experience ; PhD or JD and four (4) years or more experience. (Additional years of experience may be substituted for degree)

Required Skills:

  • Knowledge and experiences of new database technologies, such as NoSQL and cloud database services, to conduct proof-of-concepts.
  • Communication skills to coach and deliver expert knowledge and best practice to development on data architecture and database design
  • Oracle and MySQL, Amazon cloud database services
  • Data modeling including reverse and forward engineering.
  • Database Design: Relational DB Management System (RDBMS) and NoSQL
  • Data Modeling Tools: Extensive experience with a data modeling tool
  • Ability to analyze data sources.
  • SQL and PL/SQL.
  • Application Architect specific skillsets
  • Data Architecture Patterns and Practices
  • Agile Database Architecture
  • Microservices Architecture
  • In-Memory Data Store
  • Mediated APIs
  • Modernizing Application Architecture

  • Data replication/synchronization
  • ETL (Extract Transform & Load)
  • Cloud technologies (e.g. Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform)
  • Message Queueing/Broker (e.g. Amazon SNS, SQS, Kafka, ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ)

COVID Policy: Prospective and/or new employees are required to adhere with SAIC's vaccination policy. Target salary range: $125,001 - $150,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
