SAIC is currently seeking an IT Lab Manager for its NAVAIR Aviation Logistics Environment (ALE) Product Line Systems and Software Support Services for the V-22 Osprey in San Diego, CA.

Note: this position is located in San Diego, CA. with flexibility to work remote outside of onsite meetings at the SAIC office.

Position Overview:

This position will be a combination of hands on IT Systems Administration (Windows Servers, Linux Servers) and management of two small teams located in San Diego, CA. and Patuxent River, MD. 

The IT Lab Manager will provide oversight and guidance of IT projects to support IT platform for the CAMEO and RIC software, and provide guidance of server installations and configurations in the lab.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Creates and maintains checklists for the building of CAMEO systems in coordination with SE, development
  • Provides collaboration with product owners CAMEO/RIC/Cyber/Test lead to provide available resources, and leads CAMEO testing / scanning
  • Ensures the IT platform meets all RMF guidelines, all lab equipment is cybersecurity compliant and verified with ACAS and SCAP scans
  • Coordinates the build/creation and/or update of test machines/systems, deliverable machines / systems, coordinates shipments of Clonezilla captures and/or drive deliveries to OEM, and coordinate with OEM’s to make sure all sites have the required assets needed for testing
  • Provide analysis of Directives, Policies, Instructions (CTOs, FRAG/TASK/OPORDs, IAVM, PKI Guidance), Impact on RDT&E Network
  • Daily interaction directly with the NAVAIR customer in Pax. River and communicate/ lead cyber support to the cybersecurity team
  • Assigns tracking of work thru JIRA ticketing and coordinates tasking of IT Specialist team
  • Stages, configures, and validates hardware in alignment with outlined processes and procedures
  • Controls and configuration, manages archiving of PEMA Clonezilla captures, PEMA and server drive captures
  • Determines appropriate hardware and software based on end user requirements and in accordance with DOD/NIST guidelines
  • Analyze system configurations per DISA STIG using STIGviewer, SCC, and OpenSCAP, and analyze and approve all scan results before submission
  • Develop Security Policies/Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)/Other Documentation, and take on the role of the VRAM Manager as needed
  • Perform network monitoring, system backups, reporting, and testing for LAN, VLAN, WIFI, etc. Monitor and maintain system performance, recommend changes and upgrades


Required Education:

Bachelors with nine (9) years of experience; four (4) years of experience accepted in lieu of degree.

Required Certifications:

Must have a Security+ CE Certification

Required Clearance:

Must have an Active Secret Clearance (or Secret with SSBI) with the ability to obtain TS.

Required Technical Skills:

  • Must have at least 5+ years’ experience as an IT Lab Lead and/or in a lead role managing others  
  • Must have at least 9+ years’ experience as an IT Project Specialist and/or Systems Administrator (both Windows Server and Linux)
  • Understanding of application and OS security, virus scanning, and patching in an RMF environment
  • Information Assurance – understanding of DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF)
  • Virtualization and Cloud experience
  • Experience with backup, antivirus and anti-malware/spyware solutions

Desired Skills:

  • Managing servers that support Big Data applications (data analytics, data science, IOT, etc.) Prior DoD experience

  • Detailed oriented with excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with other team members
  • Problem solve rapidly and effectively, in a timely manner
  • Must have strong work ethic to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Works with a sense of urgency, while engaging and listening to experts Exhibits a high degree of flexibility in adapting to a rapidly changing environment
  • Excellent organizational skills while working on fast-paced environment, and ability to multi-task
