SAIC has an immediate need for a Senior Network Engineer to support the NASA Integrated Communications Services (NICS) contract at NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. The NICS contract provides high quality integrated communications services for secure voice, video and data solutions and services to NASA customers worldwide. This role includes design, engineering, installation, configuration, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and documentation of center network architectures in a multi-vendor, multi-protocol environment. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Engineer projects and identify new solutions for network architecture within the LAN service line
  • Act as lead engineer for ground-up design and deployment of new services based on internal and external requirements
  • Design plans as well as lead initiatives for the optimization and restructuring of network architecture
  • Support Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI) rollout on Nexus platforms as part of Software Defined Network (SDN) migration that includes a Software Defined Access (SDA) initiative.
  • Provide solutions to complex problems
  • Troubleshoot network systems to identify and resolve performance issues 
  • Document root causes and resolutions for incidents
  • Communicate with customers and management on designs as well as incident response
  • Perform packet capture and analysis to baseline network performance and/or troubleshoot performance issues

Qualifications

TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors and five (5) years or more experience; Masters and three (3) years or more experience; PhD and 0 years related experience
