Job Description

Description

SAIC is developing a Low Earth Orbit constellation to support warfighter situational awareness, data relay and communications. This will include developing system architectures for Ground and Space segments as well as collaborating and integrating with multiple subcontractors. Due to the complexity of the program and the collaborative partnerships, developing and tracking clear requirements and verification plans throughout the life of the program will be paramount to the success of the program.

SAIC is currently seeking an experienced Sr Digital Systems Engineer - Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to strengthen our Systems Engineering infrastructure and accelerate our development processes.

The Sr Digital Systems Engineer will work closely with a team of experienced Systems Engineers and Architects to implement a rigorous MBSE capability. This is a highly technical MBSE role with interfaces across the entire organization.

This Staff Engineer will provide both hands-on MBSE modeling capabilities and technical mentoring on model-based requirements development. It will be deeply engaged in updating our engineering process infrastructure to ensure robust Model-Based Design (MBD) with bi-directional traceability from Requirements to Validation.

Interested personnel need good communication skills to be effective in the team’s collaborative work environment. The SAIC team currently uses online collaboration to coordinate their efforts.

This position may require supporting multiple programs and/or roles simultaneously. Interested personnel should be comfortable with multi-tasking and able to provide written/verbal status updates on each project on a regular basis to their team leads, Program Manager and Customer.

If selected, the candidate will have the opportunity to telework but may be required, based on mission need, to provide on-sight support when applicable and appropriate.

  • Develop and deliver the full range of MBSE artifacts needed to support development of SAIC satellite and ground systems engineering deliverables including SysML/UML models of ConOps & Requirements, Architecture models, and documentation.
  • Experience in concept development, system design, performance requirements definition, integration and testing of space and ground systems
  • Provide technical leadership on various activities related to the definition and tracking of requirements, deriving from the customer-defined Mission Requirements Document down to System, Subsystem and Component levels
  • Provide technical leadership on various activities related to the development and management of verification and validation plans, including defining methodologies, timelines, prerequisites and success criteria
  • Establish and maintain metrics to track verification and validation progress throughout program life
  • Report progress to Lead Systems Engineer, Chief Engineer and Program Management, including issues and recommendations to achieve verification and validation closeout on schedule
  • Supporting program reviews, including System Requirements Review (SRR), PDR, CDR, Pre-Ship Review (PSR) and Mission Readiness Review (MRR)
