Job Description:

SAIC is seeking a Modeling/Simulation Supplier Quality Engr (SQE). This Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) position is one of the key supporting roles to system integration operations. SQE is responsible for developing inspection plans, methods/processes, sampling techniques required to assure the quality of delivered services and solutions. The SQE will function as a technical intermediary between suppliers, inspection functions, and the engineering functions at the supplier. The SQE will help troubleshoot defects and provide corrective actions, complete QMS audits at suppliers, and participate in the engineering change process. Work with purchasing and engineering teams to complete onsite supplier evaluations, inspections, and qualify prospective subcontractors related to project specific scope of work.  The manager set the specific duties and responsibilities for the employee.

***This position is 100% remote nationwide with 50% domestic and international travel required***

Duties will include:

  • Participate in new product development to determine appropriate supplier quality flowdowns and requirements to evaluate, select, and monitor subcontractor.
  • Serve as a technical intermediary and advocate for the subcontractor when answering questions, resolving or mediating issues and help improve the overall cost of quality.
  • Conduct regularly scheduled subcontractor audits to ensure compliance to subcontract requirements and assess QMS capabilities and compliance.  
  • Aide in the Development of inspection plans and metrics for assessing subcontractor performance.
  • Where appropriate, use metrics, data tracking and reporting of quality performance to drive improvements with subcontractor performance.
  • Work with procurement, manufacturing, and engineering to develop supplier quality flowdown requirements to ensure compliance to external and internal quality standards and to meet quality goals.
  • Ability to use metrology and statistical methods to diagnose and correct improper quality control practices.
  • Document key design changes to ensure successful manufacturing implementation.
  • Participate in LEAN initiative and engage Six Sigma tools for process improvements.
  • Analyze and make recommendations to help improve supplier quality indices for business processes and programs.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in STEM-related degree program  and nine (9) years or more experience; Masters and seven (7) years or more experience
  • ASQ Quality Engineer and/or ASQ Six Sigma Black Belt certifications
  • Travel will be required domestically and internationally
  • Highly experienced in Aerospace Defense sector
  • Professional career trajectory transitioning from modeling and simulation production, to verification/validation and quality assurance, modeling and simulation programs and third-party providors

Target salary range: $145,001 - $155,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
