SAIC has an opening for a Senior Software Engineer that is 100% REMOTE and can be worked anywhere in the US!

Join a high-performing Application Modernization team using a wide variety of cutting-edge technologies and cloud-native solutions to advance products and services which help shape Digital Transformation strategy and implementation for customers. Each member of our team has the autonomy to use the tools and techniques that make the most sense for them and their work, has flexible working arrangements including remote work, and uses collaboration tools such as Slack for chat and Zoom for videoconferencing to work with the rest of the team. We often Zoom for paired programming, code reviews, and shoulder surfing. We each have the opportunity to learn new things, bring the best of our experience and knowledge to the team, and make our voices heard as a respected member of a high performing team.

The successful candidate will be experienced and excited to work in an Agile environment and will have experience developing frontend and backend. Our team develops or modernizes applications that run in the commercial clouds and the candidate should have familiarity developing applications that use virtualization, containers, and cloud services with a focus on platforms such as Java, Open Source, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform. 

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop and test software applications as part of an Agile development team.
  • Work with the business analysts to understand the requirements documented as user stories. 
  • Work with the testers and subject matter experts to verify functionality against the documented test cases.
  • Work with the cybersecurity engineers to identify and remediate any security issues with the code.
  • Operate as part of the Agile process and participate in daily scrums to promote frequent communication among the team and with all stakeholders.

This position can be worked from anywhere within the US.

Requires a US Citizen

Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance required

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field with a minimum 5 years of relevant software development experience, or a masters and 3 years of relevant software development experience.
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process
  • Strong analytic and problem solving abilities and a strong work ethic with a “can do” attitude. 
  • Ability to thrive in a team/collaborative environment.
  • Ability to function at a fast pace with multiple deadlines.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply software support and troubleshooting methodologies
  • Strong organizational, time-management, verbal communication, and written communication skills
  • Must be able to obtain a government security clearance

 

Required Skills:

  • Experience with Java, frameworks such as Spring Boot and Hibernate
  • Experience with Angular, React, general JavaScript and JavaScript Frameworks
  • Experience with HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, CSS
  • Experience developing RESTful services/APIs
  • Experience with UI/UX design and working with UI/UX designers to finalize and implement their designs
  • Experience with cross-browser development and testing
  • Experience with general development tools such as GIT, Eclipse/IntelliJ, etc.
  • Experience with Docker containers (development, deployment, etc.)
  • Experience with Microservices
  • Experience with SQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server, etc.
  • Experience with Linux and Windows environments
  • Experience with Kubernetes
  • Experience with developing apps by using cloud-native services from commercial clouds (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.)

 

Desired Skills and Certifications:

  • Experience with GraphQL
  • Experience with server-side languages such as Node.js, Python, Ruby/Rails, etc
  • Experience with data streaming technology such as Kafka
  • Experience working on Government contracts
  • Experience with Section 508 compliance
  • Current security clearance is a plus

Target salary range: $115,001 - $125,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
