Job Description

SAIC is seeking a qualified Network Engineer to support the US Air Force Agency for Modeling and Simulation (AFAMS) program out of Hurlburt Field, Florida.

AFAMS is the premier agency responsible for implementation, integration, and development of Modeling and Simulation (M&S) and training and analysis standards that support the US Air Force (USAF), Department of Defense (DoD), and mission partners requiring these capabilities to support the Warfighter in full-spectrum operations. As the lead agent for M&S within the USAF, AFAMS gathers requirements, seeks out potential solutions, and integrates legacy and emerging M&S solutions across the USAF and the DoD. The USAF has an M&S initiative that focuses on providing simulation and synthetic training as the critical capability to augment live training, act as an enabler for critical decision-making, and enhance human performance. In the current resource constrained environment, demand for M&S rises with the continuously evolving need for operational readiness and mission preparedness across the USAF, DoD, and with coalition partners. AFAMS focuses on providing innovative M&S services as the key to meeting this demand.

The role of this position is to provide network-engineering support to the Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) in Hurlburt Field FL. AFSOC conducts over 16 scheduled formal Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) exercises and events per year. All supported exercises provide AFSOC and SOCOM training enterprise venues for forces to conduct pre-deployment readiness training in support of (ISO) GCC requirements at the tactical and operational level of conflict against peer/near peer/VEO adversaries. Along with preparing for the next fight, SOF and joint conventional forces use the AFSOC Readiness Training Center (RTC) to support ongoing operations deployments. These trans-regional, multi-domain, multi- functional peer and near peer scenarios improve interoperability among participants and increase joint readiness/lethality on the battlefield.

The Network Engineer will:

  • Provide subject-matter expertise regarding M&S/Multi-Domain network architecture, engineering, implementation and verification.
  • Detailed technical data analysis to identify issues impacting network integration performance.
  • Preparing and presenting supporting documentation of the findings.
  • Contributing to roadmaps to present as solutions for gap remediation.
  • Work closely with SAIC cross-functional teams and partners to define and document solutions.
  • Developing current and target state diagrams.
  • Works under consultative direction toward pre-determined long-range goals and objectives.
  • Execution of technical tasks as assigned.
  • Provide expert feedback regarding solution feasibility nd level of efforts.
  • Works on unusually complex technical problems providing highly innovative/ creative solutions.
  • Demonstrate in-depth understanding of all components that make up an “All-Domain Operations” with the ability to articulate creative solution with the customers and teammates to implement workable solutions.

  • Bachelors and five (5) years or more experience; Masters and three (3) years or more experience; PhD and 0 years related experience
  • Minimum five years’ experience in the following:
    • Network Engineering
    • Cloud computing
    • DoD Cyber security
    • Multi/All Domain Operations/C2
  • Expertise in cloud services with a strong understanding of IP Subnetting and IP Address Management.
  • In-depth experience working on tactical networks and implementing software defined networks to support edge computing.
  • Hands-on experience in implementation, configuration, and administration of networking technologies in large managed environments which will require expert level knowledge of routing and switching products and firewalls and load balancing technologies.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
