Job Description


SAIC has a potential opportunity for a ­­­­­­­­­­Vehicle Electronics System Engineer to support the U.S. Army Military Ground Vehicle Systems.  The work will be located in Warren, MI.

This position is contingent upon contract award with an anticipated start date November 2022.
The Vehicle Electronics System Engineer will be responsible for the evaluation and implementation of power electronics topologies as well as the design, product build up, and design verification of power electronics and control boards for U.S. Military ground vehicle applications. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with systems, software, mechanical, manufacturing & quality engineers to: determine hardware requirements for systems.
  • Determine hardware architectures.
  • Develop hardware designs.
  • Define/maintain power budgets.
  • Perform trade studies on hardware products.
  • Select developmental & operational hardware.
  • Document firmware & hardware (schematics & fabrication drawings for custom circuit cards, drawer/rack/system wiring & cabling)
  • Develop engineering test requirements and unit/subsystem/system test plans.
  • Perform hardware test & system integration.




  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Software Engineering from an accredited college or university.  A Master's degree in any of the preceding disciplines may be substituted for one year of general experience.

Required Skills:

  • A minimum total of 14 years' experience in analysis, development, evaluation, integration, and testing of DoD electrical/electronic systems including:
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in analysis, development, evaluation, integration, and testing of U.S. Army combat vehicle electrical/electronic systems. 
  • Must have thorough knowledge of, and experience in designing high-speed digital circuits for data acquisition, control, telemetry & communications; as well as selection of and interfacing with COTS hardware and various sensor types.
  • Must be well-versed in design and troubleshooting of electronics and electrical systems related to analog/mixed signal, RF, fiber optic systems, AC/DC power, microcontrollers, and serial communication; schematic capture, printed wiring board design and analysis/simulation tools. 
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills are needed to handle multiple task/projects and to work independently.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills are also required to work well with all levels of staff and managers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.


  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Can start work with Interim Secret Clearance
  • Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance
