Description

SAIC is looking for a Principal Software Engineer (REMOTE) to join a development project on behalf of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The goal of the project is two-fold: 1) Creating a suite of clinical decision support tools on a SMART on FHIR platform while 2) Increasing interoperability between two EHR systems (VA's VistA and Cerner). 
 
The Principal Software Engineer will be responsible for:

- Engineering front-end, back-end, and integration development for existing and new products
- Working with Product Owners and others to develop roadmaps and contribute to product vision
- Understanding and articulating the benefits and risks associated with different coding languages in different functional environments
- Maintaining and improving the usability, security, and performance of existing software
- Recommending improvements to existing software programs as necessary
- Participating in creating software development plans and strategies
- Creating software solutions to user problems and business needs
- Identifying weaknesses or risks and make recommendations to mitigate
- Analyzing problems and determining appropriate course correction measures as necessary

 

Qualifications

Education and Experience: 
- Bachelor's Degree plus 6+ years of relevant experience
 
Technology:
- ReactJS
- TypeScript
- API experience; VA Lighthouse API experience is a plus
- SMART on FHIR experience preferred (any experience with HL7 and/or FHIR is a plus)
- CQL
- Terraform
- VADS and Material Design
- AWS experience is a plus
 
Key Skills:
- Comfortable interacting with the client and demonstrating code in client showcases
- Ability to communicate architectural concepts using ERDs and other visuals
- Experience with user centric design, government contracts, or the VA would be a bonus
- Experience working in an Agile environment

Target salary range: $150,001 - $175,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
