Description

SAIC is seeking a technical editor/desktop publisher with Top Secret clearance to support the Proposal Development Center. This organization supports the company by assisting with proposal development, preparation, and submission in the pursuit of new business opportunities.  
 
This individual will be responsible for editing, revising, and formatting for submission customer-facing documents satisfying standards of high quality and customer requirements. Most of this work will be performed remotely; however, for documents requiring clearance, this individual will be required to work in a Sensitive Compartmentalized Information Facility on the SAIC site, as required. 
 
Required Experience

  • Technical Editing
    • Successful candidate will have extensive background in copy editing and proof-reading work of a highly technical nature for grammar, syntax, style, and flow.
    • Will ensure documents are consistent with prescribed style guides and specialized vocabulary of subject matter fields, and that they adhere to precise grammatical construction, punctuation, and flow.
    • Must be able to communicate complex editorial issues clearly in a concise and organized manner.
    • Must have excellent attention to detail, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and to handle time-sensitive projects.
    • Able to exercise initiative and sound judgment in carrying out assigned tasks without supervision. 
  • Desktop Publishing
    • Individual must have experience in formatting and converting documents to various electronic media for distribution, to include MS Word, PDFs, eBooks/ePubs, and must be able to use information technology tools custom-designed to support customer requirements.
    • Will have experience applying style templates to match customer-directed requirements for margins, fonts, and other mandated formatting standards.
    • Will have experience with the full range of MS Word tools to merge documents, apply styles, insert text/objects, create and format tables.
    • Will be responsible for ensuring documentation complies with customer-specified requirements prior to submission. 

Qualifications

Required Education

  • Bachelors and ten (10) years or more of related experience in technical editing and/or desktop publishing; Masters and eight (8) years or more experience ; PhD or JD and five (5) years or more experience.
  • Experience with MS Office suite and SharePoint required. 

Clearance Requirement

  • Must have active Top Secret Clearance

Target salary range: $105,001 - $115,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
