SAIC is seeking an IT Security System Administrator in Hampton, VA to support the IT Security team at NASA Langley Research Center.

This position may contribute in one or more of the following areas of IT Security:

The primary focus is to support incident response activities and forensics analysis to detect, contain and mitigate cyber threats.  Utilize and configure intrusion/endpoint detection mechanisms, data forensics tools and additional investigative tools/methods.  Work closely with end users to mitigate and recover from security incidents.

Perform vulnerability assessments, using various scanning tools and processes.  Coordinate with end-user organizations to perform corrective measures.

Support the assessment and authorization of NIST-based security plans and documents for multiple organizations at NASA Langley Research Center

Bachelors and two (2) years or more experience; Masters and 0 years related experience.

The candidate must have an IT Security or System Administration background with solid understanding of network protocols, perimeter and end point protection devices and mainstream user/server operating systems, including Windows, Windows Server, MacOS and Linux.  Experience in the use of log search/analysis, forensics, IDS, and scanning tools is highly desired.  The candidate must possess strong oral and written communication skills, the ability to learn quickly and address multiple tasks, concurrently.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in cyber security, computer science, or related field and at least 3 years of experience performing information system security assessments and/or maintaining system security plans.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance.

 

 Desired Qualifications:

Experience with vulnerability scanning, digital forensics and intrusion detection tools

Log analysis tools (Splunk, Elastic Stack)

In-depth knowledge of Windows, Linux and Mac operating systems

Excellent critical thinking and analysis skills

Strong written and oral communication skills

ISC2 (CISSP), CompTIA CySA+, CASP

A current Tier-2 background check is desired.
