SAIC is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support our FAA customer in successfully directing, monitoring, and controlling activities associated with implementation and in-service management of systems and services that result in the modernization, upgrade, and maintenance of the National Airspace System. The successful candidate should possess the following attributes:

  • Prior experience with systems engineering practices and FAA engineering requirements.
  • Experience with FAA system and software implementation, configuration management, and system lifecycle processes.
  • Ability to interface with various stakeholders to ensure acceptance of developed documentation. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and as a part of a team.

The candidate may perform the following engineering activities in support of the STARS Systems Engineering group and system deployment activities:

  • Provide technical engineering support for the installation, integration, and transition of TAMR/STARS technical products and systems into the NAS.
  • Support and coordinate site preparation and installation activities, including resources, equipment, facility access, and schedule management, to facilitate deployment of STARS to all required facilities.
  • Support the generation and status of plans and schedules for implementation, support development and review of site installation design packages, and drawings; assess and document current site configuration and user requirements.
  • Support the coordination and conduct of site surveys, site surveys reports/checklists, engineering assessments, site preparation, and site installation and optimization. 
  • Support preparation and review of installation and test reports; document configuration changes at each site; and coordinate post installation maintenance support.
  • Provide technical input for planning, tracking, dispositioning equipment, and site remediation/restoration activities.
  • Support site activation team activities, including status meetings, internal project planning, prime vendor strategy discussion, and review of deliverables.
  • Support system acceptance and in-service decision milestones.
  • Assess installation shortcomings, develop improvement recommendations, and implement change.
  • Prepare program status reports and support briefing development.
  • Prepare for and participate in weekly tactical and strategic meetings, internal program reviews, vendor requirement reviews, and TAMR systems engineering meetings. 

Travel: 

The selected person will be required to work closely with personnel located at the FAA WJH Technical Center in New Jersey, and Headquarters in Washington, DC. Other travel to installation sites and facilities may be required.

US Citizenship required with the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance

 

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related technical field (Aerospace, Computer Science, Electrical, Physics, Math, or similar) and 20 years of experience.  A Master’s or PhD counts for three years’ experience; Or 25 years relevant experience may be substituted for the degree stated.
  • Prior experience with systems engineering practices and FAA engineering requirements.
  • Experience with FAA system and software implementation, configuration management, and system lifecycle processes.
  • Familiarity with the FAA Acquisition Management System (AMS) and FAA Systems Engineering Handbook.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze data sets, determine trends, and recommend plans of action.
  • Ability to provide technical feedback, guidance and recommendations.
  • Customer focused and capable of representing the customer in community forms.
  • Ability to meet FAA contractor personnel suitability requirements and resume approval.

Target salary range: $150,001 - $175,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
