The F-35 Joint Program Office (JPO) is the Department of Defense’s (DoD) focal point for defining affordable next generation strike aircraft weapon systems for the Navy, Air Force, Marines, and our allies. The F-35 is the next generation strike fighter bringing cutting-edge technologies to the battle-space of the future. The F-35’s advanced airframe, autonomic logistics, avionics, propulsion systems, stealth, and firepower will ensure that the F-35 is the most affordable, lethal, supportable and survivable aircraft ever to be used by so many warfighters around the world. The JPO is currently going through a digital transformation effort to maintain warfighter, congressional, departmental and parliamentary support. To that end we require development, buildout and sustainment DevSecOps (DSOP) support within our F35 cloud software ecosystems. The JPO is converging with the DoD-wide enterprise service, Platform One, capability with the goal to make the DoD Enterprise DevSecOps Platform (DSOP) initiative a reality by leveraging industry best practices, open-source software such as Kubernetes and containers, and commercial solutions to instantiate DevSecOps continuous integration (CI)/continuous delivery (CD) pipelines at various classification levels.
The JPO is building an infrastructure-agnostic platform to support the F-35’s vast infrastructure options (including — Government clouds, on premise, disconnected and classified environments), with the ability to deploy a DevSecOps platform (Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) Kubernetes compliant) with accredited and secured hardened containers built from the DoD Centralized Artifacts Repository (DCAR), now referred to as Iron Bank, in order to support the F-35’s ability to field operational capabilities faster. This process will be compliant with the published DoD Enterprise DevSecOps Reference Design and meet all regulatory testing and cybersecurity requirements while encouraging DoD-wide reciprocity and expertise
SAIC will provide Agile frameworks such as Kanban and Scrum as needed and will ensure all product backlog are properly defined and sized. F35 PMO is deploying DevSecOps Platform (DSOP) in multiple gov cloud environments from Unclassified to Top Secret, including Special Access Programs; with the intent to make these hybrid cloud solutions viable for F35 development. The candidate for this position will directly support building the DevSecOps platform capabilities for the government software systems and must possess the following skills and/or experience:
