Description

Installs and operates server operating systems software, including Windows Server and other server operating systems as required, running on virtual platforms, in a secure network environment. The System Administrator is also responsible for ensuring that servers are secure and performing optimally. He/she shall have experience installing, monitoring and optimizing systems, systems software, peripherals, and networks devices. He/she shall be skilled in creating user objects, creating administration scripts and batch files, running systems backups, and resolving systems problems.

• Provide technical assistance for the installation and upgrading of new and existing file and print servers, application servers, and software
• Maintain computer rooms, telecommunications closets, and network centers in a clean and orderly manner
• Respond to service requests related to problems with file servers, communication servers, print servers, and other network devices
• Perform system maintenance and vulnerability remediation in accordance with established DOT procedures
• Be responsible for the creation, setup, and management of Active Directory network user accounts; including meeting security plan requirements
• Perform maintenance/upgrades on systems hardware/software as necessary. This may require working outside normal duty hours
• Perform system backups and restores utilizing the appropriate backup software and archival maintenance as required, and on an emergency basis
• Perform Storage Area Network (SAN) operations, storage capacity management on a Fiber optic backbone
• Install and operate server operating systems software, including Windows Server and other server operating systems as required in a secure network environment
• Create administration scripts and batch files to automate processes or generate reports as requested. Knowledge of PowerShell is a plus
• Proficient/knowledgeable in Windows Servers running as a Domain Controller supporting Active Directory, DNS, Group Policy Objects (GPOs)
• VMware vSphere System Architect and Administration
• Must be able to lift 40 lbs.

TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors and 0 years related experience.

Target salary range: $25,001 - $50,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
