SAIC is looking for a Lab Technican  to be responsible for maintaining the Environmental Testing Facility located in San Diego, CA.

 Performs a variety of duties in the electronic, mechanical, or electromechanical areas. Constructs, troubleshoots, calibrates, adjusts, tests, and maintains equipment, components, devices, or systems. Works from engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions. Operates related equipment; conducts tests and reports data in prescribed format. Performs calibration and alignment checks; makes adjustments, modifications, and replacements as directed. Support engineering programs in the lab and ensure smooth operations of these programs.

 Enforcement of company policy and standards. Performs lab operations duties that include, but are not limited to: ensuring lab equipment operability, ensuring test equipment calibration, and ensuring lab remains clean and well organized. Performs systems, subsystems and structures testing primarily associated with aeronautical platforms. Plans sequence of operations, methods and organization of layout, fabrication and assembly of engineering test fixtures, holding devices and systems necessary to complete testing.

 Works from schematics, engineering drawings, and written or verbal instructions. Operates related equipment; conducts tests and reports data in prescribed format; uses predetermined methods, sequences, and setups to inspect or test specific equipment or product, making modifications and adjustments as necessary; performs calibration and alignment checks; makes adjustments, modifications, and replacements as directed.

Qualifications

Education and experience:

  • High School and eleven (11) years or more related experience.

Required skills:

  • Understanding of Technical Data Drawings.
  • Familiarity with fabrication methods with sheet metal and machined parts.
  • Demonstrated experience involving the design or work experience of electronic systems.  
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in using basic engineering test equipment. 
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project).

Clearance requirement:

  • Must have an active Secret security clearance

Desired:

  • Military applications preferred
  • Familiarity with PC/workstation HW, servers, routers, switches, hubs, ATM, VMEC, power supplies, and encryption, devices desired.
  • Experience with commercial and military documentation and configuration management.  EIA-310 cabinet design and familiarity with Navy Environmental Qualification Testing desired.  
  • Ability to quickly learn about new products and procedures.
