SAIC is seeking an outstanding self-motivated Engineering Technician I in Bedford, IN to support the U.S. Navy. 

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Must be able to provide semi-professional technical support for engineers working in such areas as research, design, development, testing, or manufacturing process improvement.
  • Work pertains to electrical, electronic, or mechanical components or equipment.
  • These technicians are required to have some practical knowledge of science or engineering.
  • Some positions may require a practical knowledge of mathematics or computer science.  
  • The Engineering Technician I performs simple routine tasks under close supervision or from detailed procedures.
  • Work is checked in progress or on completion.

This person performs one or a combination of such typical duties as:

a. Assembling or installing equipment or parts requiring simple wiring, soldering, or connecting.

b. Performing simple or routine tasks or tests such as tensile or hardness tests; operating and adjusting simple test equipment; records test data.

c. Gathering and maintaining specified records of engineering data such as tests, drawings, etc.; performing computations by substituting numbers in specified formulas; plotting data and draws simple curves and graphs. 
 

 
 
 


 
 
 

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High School Education or equivalent.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS: 

  • The candidate must be familiar with mechanical and electrical concepts and applications and must have experience using testing equipment such as: volt/ohm meters, power supplies, micrometers, calipers and depth gauges.  
  • Candidate will be operating in environments that could result in the use of ladders, scissor lifts and or man lifts.  
  • It is expected that the candidate will have some experience in dealing with mechanical and electrical prints in their work history. 
  • Database or Excel experience is a bonus. 
  • Must be able to use a computer and simple software applications.

Must be able to:

  • Communicate well.
  • Work well in a team environment. 
  • Self starter with the ability to lead a team of technicians to deliver a product on time and under budget. 

DESIRED: 

  • Forklift experience
