SAIC anticipates a requirement for a Cyber Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support a multiple customer based contract.  This includes conducting research, testing, hardware and software development and integration for Science, Engineering & Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Modeling & Simulation, Quantum, Space, and Directed Energy Technologies.  The work will primarily take place in Northern Virginia with some travel involved.  
 

A Cyber Subject Matter Expert (SME) Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide expertise in cyber offense and defense capabilities, doctrine, and policy.
  • Additionally, the Cyber SME will provide expertise based on an understanding of cyber related technologies and technical environments.
  • Be a key facilitator for cyber related exercises, assessments, and operations and cyber technology insertion.
  • Assist with engineering for systems to ensure proper end-to-end integration, technical insertion, resolution of system issues and operation of emergent and existing cyber-sensing and cyber operations capabilities.
  • Lead the design, testing and implementation of state-of-the art secure operating systems, networks, and database products.
  • Advise on cyber hardening for military weapon systems both legacy and new.
  • Provide technical expertise on security issues for all levels including architectures, firewalls, electronic data traffic, and network access.
  • Lead the implementation of new security solutions, and creation and or maintenance of policies, standards, baselines, guidelines and procedures, as well as conducting vulnerability audits and assessments.  
  • Travel: 10% during COVID; 25% travel after restrictions

Qualifications

Required Education: Bachelors (B.S or B.A) Degree in IT, Cyber security, or related discipline

Required Clearance: Possess an active Single Source Background Investigation (SSBI) with Top Secret (TS) and eligibility for Sensitive Compartmented Information SCI and SAP

Required Experience:  

  • Minimum of 10-12 (ten to twelve) years of technical or cyber Experience
  • 10 (ten) years' or more experience in technical cyber related fields supporting DoD. 
    • In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for applicable work experience.
    • Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market shortages as reflected by market survey data.

Desired Experience: It is desired that the Cyber SME also possess the following: 

  • A minimum of 10 (ten) years’ experience supporting ACAT I and or ACAT II acquisitions (i.e., CJSC 3170, DoD 5000.02, DoD 5000.80, Technology/Manufacturing Readiness Level assessments, Verification and Validation procedures.
