Description

SAIC anticipates a requirement for an Artificial Intelligence (AI) / Machine Learning (ML) Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support a multiple customer based contract.  This includes conducting research, testing, hardware and software development and integration for Science, Engineering & Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Modeling & Simulation, Quantum, Space, and Directed Energy Technologies.  The work will primarily take place in Northern Virginia with some travel involved.  
 

An Artificial Intelligence (AI) Subject Matter Expert Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides experience in cutting edge technology, engineering, analysis of alternatives, capability management and demonstration (including technology transfer), technical demonstrations and evaluations, and requirements analysis.
  • The SME can demonstrate specialized skills in Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E), including the areas of: biotechnology, autonomy, microelectronics, quantum science, hypersonic, directed energy, cyber and space.
  • Evaluate and secure cutting-edge technology essential to the modernization of national strategy in DoD and USN.  
  • Develop and coordinate concepts and requirements for the application of current and emerging technologies as they apply to DoD's 5000.2.  
  • Maintain and update AI modernization roadmaps, coordinate roadmaps with key stakeholders.
  • Track the department-wide budget for efforts aligning with AI.  
  • Conduct AI technology research and analysis for future warfighting construct.
  • Make recommendations to the development of Concepts of Operations (CONOPS) pertinent to client mission needs and technical capabilities.
  • Travel: 10% during COVID; 25% travel after restrictions

Qualifications

Required Education: Master's degree in STEM or similar AI/ML related degrees

Required Clearance: Possess an active Single Source Background Investigation (SSBI) with Top Secret (TS) and eligibility for Sensitive Compartmented Information SCI and SAP

Required Experience:  

  • 10 (ten) years of experience of engineering, cybersecurity, and Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E).  
  • 5  (five) years' recent experience in AI 
  • 7 (seven) years' preferred previous experience with Department of Defense RDT&E mission and processes.
  • Previous experience in engineering, analysis of alternatives, integration, requirements, and testing.
  • Previous experience with command, control, and communications (C3) programs.
  • Experience with Cross-Domain Solutions.
  • Understanding of AI technology and services.
  • Excellent writing, communication and briefing skills

Desired Experience: It is desired that the AI/ML SME also possess the following: 

  • A minimum of 10 (ten) years’ experience supporting ACAT I and or ACAT II acquisitions(i.e., CJSC 3170, DoD 5000.02, DoD 5000.80, Technology/Manufacturing Readiness Level assessments, Verification and Validation procedures.
