Description

SAIC anticipates a requirement for a Chief Architect to support a multiple customer based contract.  This includes conducting research, testing, hardware and software development and integration for Science, Engineering & Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Modeling & Simulation, Quantum, Space, and Directed Energy Technologies.  The work will primarily take place in Northern Virginia with some travel involved.  
 

Chief Architect Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides full support to the client base maintaining an in-depth knowledge of the emerging technical areas
    • e.g. Autonomy, Cyber, Human Systems, Space. Knowledgeable of DoD 5000.2 Adaptive Acquisition Framework for Rapid Development.
  • Provides architectural direction to the enterprise, business, and solution architects.
  • Develops architectural metrics reports to the Program Manager and CTO.  
  • Initiates and delivers technology evaluations and recommendations.
  • Provides leadership and support to product development teams.  
  • Develops and communicates enterprise technology standards and policies.  
  • Performs annual architectural maturity assessments.  
  • Travel: 10% during COVID, 25% travel after restrictions      

Qualifications

Required Education:  Master degree in Engineering or similar related degree.

Required Clearance: Possess an active Single Source Background Investigation (SSBI) with Top Secret (TS) and eligibility for Sensitive Compartmented Information SCI and SAP

Required Experience:  

  • Recognized expert with ten (10) or more years' of experience/qualifications relevant experience in DoD Project or Program engineering with specific focus on acquisition lifecycle Milestone execution of Engineering tasks, audits, assessments, and documentation.  
  • Considered as a Chief Architect Expert.  
  • Possesses proven knowledge and experience in developing engineering architectures.  
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Hands on experience in technical and engineering implementation, configuration, standards, and administration of multi-domain solutions within large managed environments.
  • Expert understanding of advanced technologies.
  • Able to prioritize client demands in a multiple client environment.   

Desired Experience: It is desired that the Chief Architect also possess the following: 

  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience supporting ACAT I and or ACAT II acquisitions (i.e., CJSC 3170, DoD 5000.02, DoD 5000.80, Technology/Manufacturing Readiness Level assessments, Verification and Validation procedures such as DT, FDTE, LUT, OT, FOT; Fielding initiatives such as RFI, NET, NEF; Threat Assessments, STAR; Training Assessments STRAP; Final disposition planning such as DRMO, SLEP, FMS)
