SAIC is looking for a Microsoft Project Scheduler to support the DOLUS program, which involves deployment of autonomous unmanned surface vessels (USV’s) to demonstrate an enhanced warfighting capability to disrupt adversary activity in a given maritime region. The program seeks to develop an unmanned, remotely operated, and semi-autonomous USV capable of carrying modular payloads into a contested environment in order to reduce warfighter risk and provide tactical advantage. 

The DOLUS program is managed by the Unmanned Maritime Systems (UMS) Program Office (PMS-406) within PEO Littoral Combat Ship (LCS), and is supported by NIWC Pacific, Code 564 who provides expertise to the program sponsor in the areas of hardware and software design, development, installation, test and evaluation of various unmanned and autonomous systems. This position is located in San Diego, CA.
We are seeking a highly organized project scheduler to implement and oversee project schedules. In this role, you will be collaborating with project managers, setting tasks, and monitoring the execution of project timelines. You will prepare project progress and performance evaluation reports.

To ensure success, project schedulers should possess solid industry knowledge and demonstrable experience in project scheduling. A top-notch project scheduler will be someone whose expertise leads to the successful realization of envisaged project goals.

Providing scheduling support will entail approximately 80% of candidate’s time. Other support will include project administration and configuration management support.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining detailed resource-loaded schedules for implementation, developmental and operational systems across multiple product lines.
  • Works with technical leads to develop detailed schedules and assists in keeping these schedules current.
  • Develops and or modifies project schedules and or the integration of multiple project schedules into an overall Master Program Schedule
  • Maintains the overall Master Program /Project Schedule
  • Links project schedules with the overarching program, Investment Portfolio, functional area and/or other Integrated Master Plans (IMPs)
  • Maintains status on linkages and dependencies with related projects
  • Maintains percent complete for tasks
  • Facilitates weekly meetings
  • Coordinates a cross-walk of milestones and interdependencies among projects and/or functional areas (engineering, test, releases, etc.)
  •  Provides information as needed on the content, modification, or presentation of project schedule. 
  • Identifies and records the impact of work performed and not performed as scheduled. Evaluate actual construction progress and provide regular schedule updates. 
  • Consults with project managers and technical experts to set up assignments, tasks, and subtasks.
  • Coordinating project timelines with internal departments and external stakeholders.
  • Identifying potential project schedule delays and facilitating intervention in a timeous manner.
  •  Accommodating updates and changes to project schedules.
  • Keeping leadership informed of project timelines and deadlines including monthly briefs.
  • Documenting project scheduling processes and maintaining records.


Education and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or a related degree and two (2) years of experience; years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.

Required skills:

  • Excellent organizational, time-management, presentation, and communication skills.
  • A minimum of three years' experience as a project scheduler in a related industry.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Project.
  • Extensive experience in schedule planning and management.
  • Ability to keep stakeholders informed of project timelines and changes.
  • Experience in resource loading, critical path method, network logic, milestone relationships, and base-lining schedules are required.
  • Review and revise, as necessary, work items contained in assigned projects.
  • Input information into scheduling software, excel spreadsheets and appropriate computer programs.
  • Monitor, analyze and report performance of activities.
  • Lead weekly meetings and keep leadership abreast of any concerns/issues

Required clearance:

  • Must have a Secret clearance.

Desired Experience:

  • Experience drafting, editing and tracking scheduling products with minimal direction.
  • Knowledge of Earned Value Management System (EVMS) is a plus.
