Job Description

Description

Tis the season for a bonus! This position is eligible for SAIC’s National Security Sign On Bonus which pays within 30 days of start

SAIC is looking for a Hardware Engineer in the Huntsville, AL area to operate and maintain fixed and mobile laboratories supporting foreign material exploitation (FME) at a customer location on Redstone Arsenal.  The FME labs provide support to the analysis of missile system components from MANPADS, SRBMs, SAMs, TELs, decoys and camouflage, and DEW electronics.

This is a great opportunity to upgrade your current Secret clearance to a TS/SCI with CI Poly!

Responsibilities Include:

  • Conducting and supporting FME in Microelectronics, Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC), and Electro-Optical Labs at the customer location as well as during operational field-testing.
  • Construct, install, and integrate personal computer (PC)-based and embedded systems in the FME laboratories to support systems testing and data acquisition and analysis.
  • Conducting reverse engineering of Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) bitstreams such as performing top-side decapsulation of integrated circuits using a 2D milling machine, providing X-ray imaging of integrated circuits for analysis on threat equipment, and selecting and integrating embedded microcontroller systems to interface and extract information from foreign threat equipment memory.
  • Apply software expertise to develop customized implementation and integration tools for Xilinx and Altera FPGA RE requirements.
  • Experience developing network communication software and configuring an Ethernet interface between a server and customer computers. In support of the GNC lab, candidate must be able to configure data acquisition hardware for collecting, storing, and disseminating inertial measurement unit data and use rate table dynamic-link libraries to automate data acquisition for navigation systems.
  • Determine accelerometers’ and gyros’ parameters and use 2- and 3-axis rotation tables to support lab testing activities.
  • Select, procure, and integrate instrumentation to support the increased test analysis capabilities of threat equipment in response to broad Government requirements.

Desired Experience and Skills:

  • Select, set up, verify proper operation of, calibrate, and document equipment-test procedures for specialized GNC, EO/IR, and Microelectronics Lab equipment.
  • Perform calibration procedures on test equipment to ensure readiness before testing.
  • Maintain configuration control of lab inventory scheduling for annual maintenance and calibrations of select specialized test equipment from the manufacturers’ service representatives. Track maintenance records and calibration results to ensure accountability and mission readiness with no delay in responding to Government requests.

Qualifications

  • Active Secret Clearance and the ability to get a TS/SCI with CI Poly
  • BS in Electrical, Computer, or Mechanical Engineering, Physics or Applied Math, with at least 8 years of experience in a hardware engineering related field.
  • Experience in using the following equipment and software: 2-axis and 3-axis rotation table, X-ray system, microcontroller, Xilinx and Altera FPGA, 1- and 2-axis milling machine, Microsoft Visual SourceSafe, Dewesoft Visual Display software, NI LabVIEW, logic analyzer, digital storage oscilloscope, C#, MATLAB, and IdaPro.

Contingencies: Must have the ability to obtain a TS/SCI with a CI poly within 2 years of hire date.

COVID Policy: Prospective and/or new employees are required to adhere with SAIC's vaccination policy. All SAIC employees must be fully vaccinated and they must submit proof of vaccination on their first day of employment.
