SAIC is seeking a Ground Readiness Lead on the OMES II contract in support of the Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) program at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. The position is located in Lanham, MD.

The Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) is the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) next-generation operational Earth observation program that acquires and distributes global environmental data primarily from multiple polar-orbiting satellites. The program plays a critical role to NOAA’s mission to understand and predict changes in weather, climate, oceans and coasts, and the space environment, which support the Nation’s economy and protect lives and property.

The Ground Readiness Lead is the primary interface between the mission operations support team (MOST) and the JPSS Ground Project.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

This position is expected to:

  • Learn all aspects of the JPSS Common Ground System.
  • Closely coordinate and maintain schedule of activities in the near- and long-term between MOST, Raytheon, Ground Project, and OSPO.
    • Activities include build deployments and installations, patching, simulator movement, string transitions, and similar.
  • Represent and advocate for the MOST in meetings, discussions, and tag-ups with Raytheon, Ground Project, and OSPO.
  • Provide and receive status on regular basis to:
    • MOST Leadership
    • NASA Management
    • JPSS Ground Project
    • Raytheon (Ground vendor)
    • OSPO (NOAA Mission Operations )
  • Collect status from and provide guidance and technical direction, as required, to:
    • MOST and Raytheon Ground Systems Engineers
    • Flight Directors for Mission Operations conops
    • Mission Planners
    • Timeline engineers
    • Ground project C3S
  • Support 12-hour shifts during mission readiness test events as Ground Readiness Lead, providing technical and anomaly resolution guidance.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

-Bachelor’s degree or higher and 14+ years related experience.

-Proficient using Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).

- Experience with Eclipse and Raytheon ground systems.

-Experience with mission operations.

-Experience with pre-launch mission readiness activities.

-Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Target salary range: $150,001 - $175,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
