SAIC is seeking an Engineering Technician with experience supporting military Force Protection systems engineering, integration, and test.  The Force Protection team integrates sensors and other devices, monitoring and control software, and computers on computer networks to create systems that protect military personnel, resources and facilities from potential threats. 

The ideal candidate will have related experience with military Force Protection systems, be able to work with limited supervision and general instructions given for new work assignments, and capable of frequent communication with other departments and occasional communication with external organizations (vendors, suppliers). 

In this role, one will maintain and update hardware and software on systems used for system integration, test, and field support. 

Typical daily activities include installing hardware, maintenance (e.g., firmware updates, periodically required maintenance), configuring computers and network equipment, and assisting in determining methods or actions to remedy malfunctions.

Qualifications

Required Education:

  • AA Degree in related discipline and three (3) years related experience; Two (2) additional years’ experience are accepted in lieu of a degree.

Required Clearance:

  • Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance

Desired Skills:

  • Ability to configure PC’s and debug software and computer systems
  • Ability to support engineering activities such as design, test, check-out, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electro mechanical systems, experimental design circuitry, laser/light transmission devices or specialized test equipment
  • Perform work based on schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform testing, checkout and trouble-shooting
  • Assist in determining methods or actions to remedy malfunctions
  • Collect, maintain, organize, compile, manipulate, and analyze technical data
  • Prepare engineering documentation, reports, drawings (sketches/flow charts/diagrams/schematics, etc.)
  • Perform mathematical calculations per engineering specifications
