 SAIC has an opening for a Senior Principal Solution Architect to join our talented, dynamic team. The key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Leads the creation of or creates design documents that ensure consistency in development across the customer's organization
  • Leads the definition of software architecture to ensure the VA OIT software solutions are built within a consistent framework
  • Leads the decision-making processes related to the selection of software architecture solutions
  • Serves as a technical and business-savvy resource to software engineering personnel on a wide range of software design issues
  • Implements and improves core software infrastructure. Participates in improving software development lifecycle, technical operations and technology innovation
  • Develops technical / business approaches and new or enhanced technical tools
  • Shares highly-complex information related to areas of expertise and/or to gain acceptance of new or enhanced technology / business solutions
  • Anticipates and prevents problems and roadblocks before they occur
  • Performs systems and applications performance characterization and trade-off studies through analysis and simulation
  • Leads development teams on projects to guide timely and accurate delivery of new features or technical improvements
  • Develops the technical “vision” and designs specifications of assigned projects and may perform as implementation lead 
  • Perform system modifications and maintenance in support of emergent system change requests and defects as required to address immediate Government needs
  • Develop and maintain detailed system documentation, system requirements, system design documents, architectural road maps, user documentation, metadata, help files, and other technical documentation
  • Leads development teams on projects to guide timely and accurate delivery of new features or technical improvements
  • Develops the technical “vision” and designs specifications of assigned projects and may perform as implementation lead 
  • Mentors less experienced members of the team
  • Provides subject matter expertise to less experienced team members. May participate in teaching and training members of work team
  • May represent IT Technology in internal or external forums
  • Performs analysis of alternatives to solve complex technical problem

 

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Architectural leadership experience with microservices and distributed applications
  • Experience architecting and automating cloud native technologies, CI/CD workflows and configuration management platforms
  • Experience with the full software development lifecycle and delivery using SAFe and Agile practices
  • Advanced knowledge of software engineering principles, methods, and techniques to include Agile/Scrum, DevOps and Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) methods
  • Experience in analysis, design, and user interface flows, business process mapping, process improvement mapping, functional implementation and supporting Agile
  • Experience providing technical leadership in a complex enterprise system of systems environment
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge / Experience in DoDAF or equivalent TOGAF frameworks
  • Experience development architectural roadmaps in a SAFe / Agile environment(s)

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • 10+ years of system software solutions/development experience
  • 8+ years of large-scale software development with recent coding experience in two or more modern programming languages
  • 5+ years of technical leadership with high-performance engineering teams

Target salary range: $125,001 - $150,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
