Title: Space Architecture & Systems Engineer

 

Position Description

Lead a team of 15 systems engineers throughout the lifecycle of a multi-vehicle constellation (across three generations) of overhead EO satellites and associated ground systems.

 

Duties:

  • Manage government technical baseline (Requirements, CONOPS, interfaces), to include managing traces to enterprise parent documents for a major system acquisition (MSA)
  • Assess prime development contractor technical compliance with major milestones
  • Participate in external, program office, and developer-sponsored forums (e.g., working groups, IPTs, and boards) to ensure program office equities are protected
  • Evaluate developer-supplied functional and performance requirements for conformance with government requirements
  • Monitor developer activities and identify potential issues requiring leadership intervention
  • Review prime developer technical documents for appropriate, accurate content
  • Review and assess satellite compliance with approved ICDs, standards, and developer command media
  • Coordinate the development and review of the technical artifacts in support of a MS-B decision
  • Review system-level RFCs to determine impact on developer program
  • Develop RFPs for changes in developer technical scope and provide Tech Eval of contractor proposals
  • Monitor Intelligence Community activities (architecture trade studies, requirements, and analyses) and represent program office equities
  • Summarize and provide recommendations to the Government through regular informal interactions, staff meetings, and monthly reports

Qualifications

TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors and fourteen (14) years or more experience; Masters and twelve (12) years or more experience; PhD or JD and nine (9) years or more experience

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience assessing modeling, simulation and analysis studies of overhead EO systems
  • Experience organizing and facilitating the activities of teams and working groups to set goals, track performance, and execute task necessary to achieve those goals
  • Ability to lead a multi-contractor team supporting multiple customers
  • Ability to coordinate between Government organizations and summarize complex technical information for presentations at national-level technical meetings
  • Familiar with IBM DOORS Requirements Management Tool
  • Capable of working autonomously, with little government oversight
  • B.S. degree in a relevant technical field (e.g., math, engineering, or physics)
  • 10 years or more experience working in a government program office
  • 10 years or more experience in formal requirements, design, verification, and/or interface definition for ACAT 1A systems
  • Current TS/SCI clearance with polygraph

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Ability to create requirements traces across modules in IBM DOORS
  • Familiarity with SYSML and CAMEO MBSE
  • Understanding of multiple/diverse sensor phenomenologies, communication systems, and related ground processing
  • Proficiency representing complex data in high level Microsoft PowerPoint presentations tailored to specific audiences
  • 15 years or more experience in National Security Space (preferably NRO)
  • 15 years or more experience in general space systems engineering
  • INCOSE SEP certification
  • M.S. degree in a relevant technical field (engineering or physics)
