Description

SAIC is looking to fill a position for an experienced DB2 database administrator who on any given day may be called upon to:

  • Use and/or develop solutions that encompass database structure; security; performance tuning; installation planning, testing, and execution; back-up and recovery specifications; potentially data warehousing, and potentially database virtualization.
  • Be responsible for the daily operations and functioning of database systems which includes implementing and maintaining software, tools, and processes to effectively manage the database solutions.
  • Work in a managed team environment to resolve day-to-day database issues which involve a variety of customers and developers and requires effective collaboration.
  • Interface with infrastructure partners in the delivery of our services such as network, middleware and system administrators.
  • Look for opportunities to apply continuous improvement and gain efficiencies.

 

Qualifications - External

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree and five (5) years or more experience; Masters and three (3) years or more experience; PhD and 0 years related experience.
  • Database Administration proficiency with five or more years of experience in IBM DB2
  • Experience writing and using SQL with modern DBMS systems
  • The selected candidate must have a willingness and ability to participate in a 7x24 on-call rotation, required every 7-10 weeks
  • Knowledge of database design, development, and management
  • Knowledge of database security
  • Knowledge of database performance tuning techniques and tools
  • Ability to collaborate with other systems and applications developers
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills including strong interpersonal skills and documentation practices
  • Candidate can start uncleared but must be able to obtain a DOE Q clearance with Sigma 15 and can fulfill polygraph requirements

Desired:

 

  • Proficiency with IBM DB2
  • Experience providing database support for large COTS applications
  • Knowledge of hardware and operating systems โ€“ especially Linux, system architectures, and network infrastructures
  • Active treasury clearance a plus.
  • Ability to understand and work with new and emerging database technologies including Cloud solutions
  • Knowledge of data modeling techniques and tools
  • Experience writing procedural SQL such as Oracle PL/SQL or SQL Server T-SQL โ€“ along with ability to develop database stored procedures and triggers
  • Ability to develop tools, utilities, and procedures to automate maintenance functions
  • Ability to plan and install database software and database systems
  • Knowledge of software development methodologies, tools, and processes
  • Knowledge of software engineering principles
  • Experience with database administration tools used for object management and design (such as DBArtisan & ERStudio)

 

Qualifications

  • Experience writing and using noSQL
  • The selected candidate must have a willingness and ability to participate in a 7x24 on-call rotation, required every 4 weeks
  • Knowledge of database design, development, and management
  • Knowledge of database security
  • Knowledge of database performance tuning techniques and tools
  • Ability to collaborate with other systems and applications developers
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills including strong interpersonal skills and documentation practices
  • Candidate subject to Minimum Background investigation by IRS.

 

 

Desired:

  • Proficiency with MongoDB
  • Experience providing database support for large COTS applications like
  • Knowledge of hardware and operating systems โ€“ especially Linux, system architectures, and network infrastructures
  • Active IRS MBI or equivalent
  • Ability to understand and work with new and emerging database technologies including Cloud solutions
  • Knowledge of data modeling techniques and tools
  • Experience writing  noSQL queries and working with JSON documents
  • Ability to develop tools, utilities, and procedures to automate maintenance functions
  • Ability to plan and install database software and database systems
  • Knowledge of software development methodologies, tools, and processes
  • Knowledge of software engineering principles
  • Experience with MongoDB database administration tools used for object management and design

Target salary range: $105,001 - $115,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
