Description
SAIC is seeking a seasoned profesional with Operations experience in Orbital Warfare on the Horizon Program to support the U. S. Space Force (USSF) in their efforts to develop and deploy next-generation and advanced capability space systems. Under the Special Programs (SP) Directorate at the Space Systems Command (SSC), this position - based in Colorado Springs, CO - provides operations and mission systems engineering thinking to support development and fielding of a portfolio of programs designed to gain, maintain and exploit space superiority. Ideal candidates will have a strong operations background in tactical operations centers and familiarity with systems engineering, technical program management and have the ability to continually balance and adjust work priorities to meet short term work suspense and rapidly evolving customer needs.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides operations expertise to projects such as training, planning, tactical/operational orbital warfare analysis and documentation support, budgeting, systems design and testing, systems integration, or other similar efforts that require a thorough understanding of military force structure, operations, systems, capabilities, limitations, and employment. May provide support directly to military units as a subject matter expert. May develop and provide academic instruction, field training, or experiential training to include war games. Researches, identifies, and makes recommendations about military resources required for task execution and completion. Gathers, processes, and analyzes military tactical and operational data in support of planning and operations.
Contributes to the development of new concepts, techniques, and standards. Considered expert in field within the organization.
Develops solutions to complex problems, which require the regular use of ingenuity and innovation. Ensures solutions are consistent with organization objectives.
Work is performed without appreciable direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignment.
Effects of decisions are long lasting and heavily influence the future course of the organization. Errors in judgment or failure to achieve results would result in the expenditure of large amounts of company resources.
Represents the organization as the prime technical contact on contracts and projects. Interacts with senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.
Qualifications
Bachelors and ten (10) years or more of related experience; Masters and eight (8) years or more experience ; PhD or JD and five (5) years or more experience.
Experience with USSPACECOM and JTF-SD
Experience with highly maneuverable (RPO Class) Spacecraft
Experience in the 3 Space Experiminatation Squadron or 3 Space Operations Squadron
Requires an active TS/SCI and willingness to consent to a Poly
Desired: Graduate of Advanced Orbital Mechanics Course
