Sr. Systems Administrator
NASA Johnson Space Center (JSC) – Safety and Mission Assurance Engineering Contract (SMAEC) II. Houston, Texas
As a member of the SAIC Safety and Mission Assurance (SMA) Facility, Data and Information Technology Management team, selected candidate will provide overall systems administration support for the SMA Directorate at the NASA Johnson Space Center (JSC). Candidate will be responsible for overall systems-administration support for the Johnson Space Center (JSC) SMA directorate related to servers and related systems in a Microsoft Windows environment.
Candidate will provide all aspects of systems administration support for SMA in a VMWare Virtual Microsoft Windows server environment. Position involves having strong skills related to installing, configuring and maintaining Windows server hardware and software, and keeping servers on-line, backed up, replicated and fully functional at all times. Position also involves having strong systems administration skills in supporting servers that host applications with web front ends and database back ends. Candidate must also possess a solid understanding of IT security best practices and have the skills necessary to implement IT-security safeguards for protecting SMA data and systems. Position involves working closely with application-development teams, providing the server administration support needed for development, testing and production environments. Assignments for this position are given in the form of objectives and the selected candidate must establish goals to meet objectives. Formal schedules must be developed and maintained for assigned projects. Selected candidate must also be able to accomplish tasks with limited oversight by management and work with no instruction on routine tasks and general instructions on new assignments. Candidate may also be responsible for the technical direction, leadership, and training of less experienced staff. The position requires support of information systems through their lifecycle, including an SA stakeholder role in directorate information systems security plans, and direct communication with the SMA Information System Security Officer (ISSO). SMA SA frequently interacts with other FD&ITM personnel and Information Resources Directorate (IRD) personnel at JSC. Selected candidate will function as the systems administration point of contact for the SMA Directorate and will represent SMA at IRD forums and technical meetings.
