SAIC is seeking a Health Physics Instructor, at Kirkland, AFB. Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Health Physics and provide health physics instruction, information and advice. Conduct instruction in the classroom, in a field environment, by Mobile Training Team (MTT) and through Virtual platforms. Collaborate with Curriculum and Faculty Development personnel, Course Managers, and Instructional staff to support and develop objectives, assessments, and appropriate course material for the cross-functional delivery of in-residence & online learning. Evaluate, update, and revise training courses and content with Health Physics and related material for in-resident and e-learning courses including virtual and Computer Based Training (CBT) deployment.Review and evaluate academic material for content accuracy, applicability, and comprehension. Provide information and advice on nuclear weapons effects and phenomena, multi-Service DoD/Department of Energy (DOE) response to national radiological emergencies, and support of command and control needed to respond to those emergencies. Transport, move, and handle radiological sources in support of practical exercises, Field Training Exercises (FTX), other training and test events, and as required by the organization. Assist with the maintenance and execution of the organization’s radiological occupational health program. Develop and present briefings to DNWS students and staff. Perform radiological health training to DNWS students and staff. Conduct research and analysis as required. Travel, as required, to customer locations. Ensure compliance with DNWS policies, standards, and safety requirements.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor of Science or science related course study and nine (9) years of related experience; Masters and seven (7) years of related experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain certification as a Defense Nuclear Weapons School (DNWS) Instructor
• Ability to obtain and maintain qualifications to handle and move radiological sources
• In-depth knowledge and working experience in the health physics aspects as it pertains to nuclear weapons and nuclear weapon effects
• Knowledge of Health Physics with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both experts and lay personnel
• Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
• Ability to apply policies and procedures consistently and correctly
• Ability to use initiative and resourcefulness in problem-solving
• Ability to work effectively with students, staff, and outside agencies
• Proven ability to effectively manage multiple projects in a collaborative, team-based environment
• Must be able to lift at least 45 lbs

Clearance: 

• Ability to obtain and maintain a minimum Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications

• Completion of or working towards National Registry of Radiation Protection Technologists
• Instructional and/or administrative experience at post-secondary level
• Experience in classroom instruction to include Mobile Training Teams (MTTs), and e-Learning including Virtual platforms and Computer Based Training (CBT)
