Job Description


SAIC is seeking an experienced modernization planning engineer to support our STS-2 team supporting the Special Programs Directorate at the Space and Missiles System Center in Santa Maria, CA. We support the Air Force’s acquisition of state of the art military satellite and ground systems for space domain awareness and space control missions for our nation’s warfighters. We seek technical individuals who will thrive in a highly collaborative work environment of small teams, using the most modern tools and methodologies to tackle the challenges of integrating complex space and ground systems.



  • Lead working groups and develop Space Domain Awareness and Counterspace solutions and supporting documentation
  • Elicit and capturing stakeholder needs in models
  • Suppor the development of acquisition roadmaps for future space warfighting solutions
  • Provide liaison services to the Joint Space Operations Center and incorporate user perspective into space warfighting modernization planning
  • Integrate models to modern requirements management, architecture, and systems engineering software



Required Experience:

  • MS in Engineering / Science or equivalent technical degree
  • 10+ years broad technical and managerial experience with DoD space programs, including systems engineering and exposure to satellite operations
  • 4+ years experience with the Joint Space Operations Center
  • Acquisition program experience
  • Demonstrated ability to participate in cross-functional planning, coordination and task execution situations involving the full spectrum of systems engineering and integration activities, with special emphasis on space warfighting task analysis
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Current TS/SCI clearance is required for the position

Preferred Experience:

  • Subject matter expertise in space domain awareness and space control programs
  • Space acquisition experience
  • Previous SAP clearances
