Job Description

Description

Job Description:

SAIC, in support of the GEARS contract at NASA Glenn Research Center, is seeking a senior level AI&T (Assembly, Integration & Test) Systems Engineer (SE) to provide support for the Power Propulsion Element (PPE) program.  PPE is an important first element in NASA’s Gateway concept, which is part of the evolving strategy for establishing a human presence in the lunar vicinity and beyond.  NASA GRC, along with its commercial partners and other NASA centers, is responsible for a space flight demonstration of a PPE that will meet the requirements of the Gateway.  PPE is planned to launch with the Habitation and Logistics Outpost (HALO), which will require integration of PPE and HALO.

The candidate will lead PPE SE&I efforts in these areas: (1) insight and planning of the assembly and integration of PPE and HALO within spacecraft and associated V&V, (2) planning and execution of PPE project level V&V, (3) spacecraft/payload integration planning with HALO and the commercial launch vehicle, and (4) interface to the mission level AI&T and V&V efforts.  Candidate ensures that mission-level interface development meets PPE needs and performs planning efforts from the PPE perspective.  Candidate will work heavily with avionics, power, data, and communication interfaces.  He/she will work with multiple NASA center CS and prime contractor personnel to coordinate and define integration and interface details between PPE, HALO, the launch vehicle, integration facility, etc.

The selected candidate will support the Science and Space Technology Systems Branch at NASA GRC, which is responsible for providing the systems engineering leadership and shared project system architect leadership roles to enable science and space technology programs and projects.
