Description

SAIC is looking for a Mission Assurance (MA) Engineer with technical expertise in major space systems acquisitions mission assurance. This position is in Chantilly, VA requiring an active TS clearance.

The selected candidate will be an integral participant in executing the mission assurance program for a US Air Force Space Program. To qualify, you should be experienced in mission assurance and quality systems requirements for spacecraft development contractors. Activities leverage on an understanding of full life cycle system support, from procurement to launch, including MA requirements analysis, MA requirements tracking, MA or quality system design and an understanding of quality/mission assurance functions during flight hardware manufacturing, test, system integration, system level test, delivery and sell- off. Understanding/experience with Mission Assurance at the system integration level is a plus.

The following tasks are representative of those that will be accomplished at the request of the customer, but are not limited to:

  • Developing the program Mission Assurance Plan.
  • Supporting Functional Configuration Audits (FCA) and Physical Configuration Audits (PCA), Corrective/ Preventive Action Boards, and Failure Review Boards
  • Supporting the development, application and monitoring of the government MA Standards for analysis and prevention of issues that have caused failures, launch delays, reduced mission life or performance or resulted in significant rework
  • Supporting the development of mission assurance profiles to include tailoring of mission assurance standards for new systems and initiatives
  • Providing expert technical knowledge across machining, electronic fabrication, chemical processing, inspection techniques, assembly and integration, destructive/nondestructive testing, production management, Quality Assurance (QA), and Parts, Material and Processes (PM&P)
  • Providing System Critical Item List (CIL) and prepare System Reliability Allocations, Assessments, and Analysis Reports
  • Supporting unit manufacturing reviews from a QA and PM&P perspective, as needed
  • Providing support to anomaly investigations as required by the customer for prime contractor and sub-contractor development and manufacturing
  • Providing technical evaluation of Mission Assurance efforts in engineering change proposals

Qualifications

TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors and nine (9) years or more experience; Masters and seven (7) years or more experience ; PhD or JD and four (4) years or more experience.

Clearance Requirements:

  • Current TS clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI with CI Poly

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering science discipline related technical field or 4 years additional years' experience in lieu of degree
  • Experience developing Mission Assurance Plans
  • Expert technical knowledge across machining, electronic fabrication, chemical processing, inspection techniques, assembly and integration, destructive/nondestructive testing, production management, Quality Assurance (QA), and Parts, Material and Processes (PM&P)
  • Experience supporting unit manufacturing reviews
  • Familiarity with government MA standards

Desired Experience:

  • Masters of Science in engineering, science or related technical field
  • Experience in Space Systems Mission Assurance at the systems level.
