SAIC is seeking a Defense Travel Coordinator for an exciting Air Force program out of Orlando, FL.

 

SAIC, a premier Fortune 500 technology integrator company, has an exciting opportunity for a Travel Coordinator candidate on a successful long term Modeling and Simulation contract supporting the Air Force Agency for Modeling and Simulation in Orlando, Florida. This incredible program has travelers currently supporting customer requirements in Germany all the way to South Korea; and many places in between.  The endstate of all of the work on this contract is to provide better, faster, cheaper, and more effective simulation to the United States Air Force to improve the combat skills of pilots and airmen.

The Travel Coordinator directly supports the Business Operations Lead in the Program Management Office and works with travelers across this large program supporting travel across the United States and overseas.  He/she is knowledgeable about SAIC travel policies and procedures as well as contract requirements and Joint Travel Regulations.  This position may require after hours support to amend travel itineraries and support travelers globally.  The candidate must be outgoing, flexible and responsive to support the team as necessary. He/she must have a positive outlook and personable personality with “can do” attitude, who easily works with many types of people.  If you are someone who enjoys helping others achieve success, this is the job for you!

Some activities our travel coordinator will perform include:

  • Accepting travel requests through an automated system; processing requests for government approval; following up with the travelers on their trips; and verifying expense report accuracy and contract compliance
  • Coordinating travel budget expenditures and addressing overseas security concerns with other Program Management Staff
  • Managing the travel authorization workflow from request receipt through expense report and trip report submittals
  • Providing travel analysis and reporting for monthly deliverables
  • Assisting the Program Office in maintaining/updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all administrative processes and procedures
  • Answering phone calls and emails after hours occasionally to change/amend travel arrangements for travelers

Qualifications

Some skills and character traits our travel coordinator should have:

  • An awareness of visa requirements, passport requirements, etc. for travel
  • Comfortable in adapting to shifting priorities and to function in a fast paced environment 
  • The ability to interact professionally and respectfully with employees and government customers
  • Responsiveness to deadlines and completeness in accomplishing assignments
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of programs (Word, Power Point, Excel) and Outlook (email, calendars)
  • The ability to effectively communicate processes and procedures is highly desirable 
  • Familiarity with Atlassian Suite of Tools (Jira and Confluence) desirable

 Education/Experience

BA/BS Degree and three (3) years or more of relevant experience providing task execution/travel and or program administrative support, preferably to government customers including creating meeting agendas, taking minutes and responding to task requirements. 

Six (6) years work experience may be substituted for a Bachelor’s Degree. 

An Associate’s Degree plus four (4) years work experience may be substituted for a Bachelor’s Degree.

Must possess minimally an interim Secret Clearance
